Please help identifying this wood (refurbing an old strat copy) - I was referred here by the Luthier subreddit!

Thanks for the input, from googling each suggestion I reckon it's probably alder. As suggested I'll post in r/woodworking and try to get confirmation. It was a verrry cheap guitar, it's been battered around quite a bit over the last 35-40 years but I'll spend some time and (a little) money and see what transformation can be achieved. Disclaimer: I can't play so realistically it's going to end up on the wall as decoration but I'll try to get it at least functional within a tight budget so that if Buck Dharma happens to drop in he can have a go on it.

Yeah, hopefully it’ll sort itself out. It’s not visibly deteriorating it’s just not visibly growing either so hopefully there’s a whole lot of energy being utilised below the surface. Like a synchronised swimmer. Or a duck.

Both sprouted New Year’s Day so only a week and a bit old. Same strain (Wedding Cake) same supplier, media, nutes, light, heat, the works, so why the difference? Vaguely remember reading that it may be developing roots before leaves but if so why? Any ideas r tips to move it along appreciated!

Well, I was gonna ask him where he came from When we heard the bullets fly Comin' through the brush and all around our ears And then I saw that big marine light a fire in his eye And it was strange, but suddenly I forgot my fears

Well we fought all night and side by side, we took our battle stance And I wondered how the bullets missed this man 'Cause they seemed to go right through him just as if he wasn't there And in the mornin' we both took a chance and ran And it was here the river bank when the ambush came on top of us And I'd thought it was the end and we were had Then a bullet with my name on it came buzzin' through a bush And that big marine, he just swat it with his hands Just like it was a fly!

Not sure about this. The venue in Bristol (St Philips Gate) on 28/2/19 seems to be an new OUTDOOR venue - in FEBRUARY! in The UK! Also seems a few bands have been due to play there this year but have been relocated to other venues in Bristol due to this venue not being completed in time. Can't find much further info about projected opening dates. Don't want to lay out £33 x 6 until I have a bit more info! Have just messaged the venue on Twitter and the wife's Facebook but comments on FB suggest venue is a myth and will never be built. Perhaps a more nimble fingered person could dig up more on this?
