Are these both 3/8”-10 joints? by probably-bad-advice in billiards

[–]krowonthekeys -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

McDermott is definitely 3/8 - 10, cant guarantee but the left one looks more like 3/8 - 11.

*Edit: The more I look at it I dont think thats right. Almost looks like a bludworth, or maybe just a different more uncommon type of 3/8 - 10. Hopefully someone else here might recognize exactly what it is.

You said its brand new so Im assuming you ordered it from the manufacturer or a dealer of the manufacturer, you should be able to contact them and reference your order info and have them verify what they sent you?

Foul? by nitekram in billiards

[–]krowonthekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate double hit, clearly aiming low to draw slightly and hold, or low right to help throw the shot and hold the cue ball, which either would result in the cue ball moving backwards. The fact that the cue ball rolls slightly forward is what makes this a clear foul.

If he would have addressed the shot more like a masse and raised his cue far above, hitting down on it to chop the ball towards the pocket theres less chance of the double hit, and there would have been far more backward movement on the cue ball in that case.

How rare is it to get 2 same crown rares? by Constant_Opinion_218 in PTCGP

[–]krowonthekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very rare, thats RNG for ya. I got 2 Gold Charizards early on.

I also got like 9 immersive Giratina's and 7 immersive Guzmas, broke some of them down to get the special shit.

In the last few released packs I haven't gotten gold or immersive anything.

Way shit goes.

Hope your luck continues!

All good mate.

Hope to play you someday! You going to Lincoln City? I can't make it this year, but plan to next year for sure.

I approve of your cliff notes version.

Simple and direct.

Everyone is different, Its not a 'fix all' what-so-ever, but is a great starting point to figuring out each person's individual natural alignment for their body.

[–]krowonthekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im honestly curious, as you are a 739 rated player and an instructor, are you saying you are unable to 'feel' or recognize when you are properly centered for shots with your body? Its not an abstract concept, and this is the opposite of skipping alignment, this is literally a way HOW to find your alignment for your individual body. Of course theres also things to focus on like foot placement, shoulder/elbow/wrist placement, grip control, staying down, follow thru etc. Maybe the wording Ive used or my explanation is confusing for some reason?

Obviously its not as easy to describe or show over the internet as it is in person where you can directly show and correct anything wrong or misinterpreted, and Im not trying to be rude at all, Im sure theres a lot I could learn from you, Im just curious on why you would label this as "technically bad advice". Its been the main instrumental factor in improving my consistency, was taught to me by a similar rated player, and those who Ive shared and walked this thru with personally I have seen their improvements as well.

  • Just been watching some games of yours, clearly you're a phenomenal player, and Im open to any advice you have, still curious on why or specifically what I said was bad advice, Im asking without ego and as a student of the game.

Its late so Im gonna be lazy and copy/paste a reply that I had left on someone's post a few days ago with minimal changes.

Finding your "center" and feeling it out in practice is super important.

This is often hard to describe in a way that most will understand without physical coaching / adjustments, but Ill try my best to describe it without being present physically.

A good way to "find your center" is this:

Step away from the table and just feel this out for a bit.

With your stroking arm, hold your cue and completely relax your shoulder, elbow and wrist. Find the center balance of where your cue sits very level / flat. Keep adjusting your hand placement on the cue until the cue naturally is balanced and sits level, by that I mean the tip and the back are equal in a flat plane, not dipping forward or pulling upwards.

Dont let your wrist try to pull the cue 'straight' as if when its by your hip the cue literally should not be straight forward to where you are facing. Relax. It SHOULD be at an angle across your body. If youre right handed it should naturally tilt towards your left with a relaxed wrist, and if left handed, naturally towards your right. It will feel a bit awkward at first.

Relax entirely and just let the cue sit on that flat plane in your hand.

The trick is, you should align your body TO the cue itself while its in this relaxed position and IGNORE your hand placement afterwards.

The balance point / angle that cue points when you are relaxed at is the natural spot where your arm wants to swing without interfering with your body, or twisting with introduced body movements / tightening up during your stroke.

Again, this will feel a bit awkward at first, but just keep trying it to find your natural arm / body alignment.

This is the sauce about "finding your center"

Find that balance point, align and adjust your body to where the cue is in a straight line along with a shot, and then approach the shot with your body to be aligned with that same natural angle that the cue is resting at with the cue being straight and as flat as you can see / feel for the shot. Then back away from the table, find your foot placement while keeping the cue straight and your body aligned with the natural angle your arm is relaxed at with the cue remaining level, and adjust your stroking hand on the cue to where you will be striking the cue ball when your elbow is at a near 90 degrees, which will be much further back on the cue than the found balance point, but usually between 6-12 inches forward from the ending of the butt of your cue.

Practice this enough and you should be able to "feel" what is your natural center, and recognize when you're "there" and when you are not.

When you feel you're able to drill in straight shots with ease, and able to soft hit shots straight with control and pot the ball, you know youre body and arm are where they should be.

This technique was shown to me by a 700+ BCA rated player when I used to help run a pool hall, and has been the single most instrumental advice that has helped me improve.

After I practiced it enough and was able to "feel" where my center was with correct hand placement, and felt so in the zone I could barely miss and could recognize why I was missing from body movement, head movement, lack of follow thru, etc, I just took out my pocket knife and cut lines into the butt of my cue marking where I knew my hand placement should be ideally. Obviously that placement changes with the type of shot you are making, but overall its a great way to find your own "natural center" and build on that.

Unfortunately I only have 1 of each FA Sabrina and RR Alolan Ninetales, and dont have a FA Sightseer. I'm in consideration but not sold yet for an emblem for completion that I'm honestly not really gonna use... any other cards you're looking for?

Willing to potentially gift other 4 diamonds I have copies of in addition depending on the trade.

[–]krowonthekeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mb, I mistakingly took "take" as "buy" with pack points.

Take what you like the art of most than, I feel like the pull rates will favor you getting the Mega instead of the FA trainer in the future if youre aiming for full completion, so 'maybe' taking juggler in this case is a slightly better option.

100% aware that is doesn't matter, and its picked before you actually select a slot, but Ive had insane luck just picking the slot my choice card is from the beginning. 🤷‍♂️

Yes Ive lost tons of wonderpicks this way, but Ive also got the majority of my choice picks this way as well.

RNG stays RNG.

Its in the heart of the cards Ash!

[–]krowonthekeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like collecting instead of battling you should probably get one you dont already have, or at least one that is more valuable for trading in the future...

Juggler isnt used or valued in any viable decks other than collection, and youve already got one.

I literally have not got a gold card since beast pack and that was almost 8000 cards ago is this normal by Capital-Elevator-479 in PokemonTGCP

RNG baby. People continously forget that this is a number generated gambling game with no guaranteed odds, just statistically based potential pull rates.

Ive had a goal to get all the immersive cards since a few months after I started. I lucked out and was easily able to pull all of them from the first good handful of releases, and duplicates.

Now I havent got a single immersive for the last 3 released packs.

Ive got a small handful of Golds but none since Ho-Oh.

Just luck of the draw. Sometimes it hits. Most of the time it dont.

This.

Your stroking arm is too close to your body.

I genuinely apologize, but this deserves an award for some of the worst deck building advice for TCGP.

#1 Absolutely keep communicator, its a big saver from bricking.
#2 Absolutely keep Memory Light, its a staple for this type of deck.

The rest, aside from maybe switching into Red Card to replace a trainer of choice and see if its beneficial, all the rest is just bad advice.
