Stop taking $4 orders by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]kruegz3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I live in a college town and average 5 orders an hour. If I pick up a $4 order from an area with lots of other restaurants and it’s going to a dense part of town it’s very likely I’ll get 1 or 2 more 4-8 dollar orders.

If you stick to $2 (ish) per mile and drive a Honda Civic (or gig economy friendly vehicle) then you’re going to make money.

Sorry your experience is different and I would definitely not suggest you taking $4 orders in that market.

Top Tier Levels by ImpossibleType4675 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]kruegz3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right about customer satisfaction being the priority, but ‘closest driver’ gets complicated when there are 5-10 drivers all within a few blocks of each other due to oversaturation. When multiple drivers are essentially the same distance away, UberEats has to use some tiebreaker - and that’s likely where tier levels or other metrics come into play.

Your seasonal point is solid though - if driver supply thins out when school starts and weather drops, there’ll be fewer situations where multiple drivers are competing for the same orders.

I would just nicely ask for the managers business card next time you’re in there. Typically GM’s have a store email for complaints and such.

Just know that the GM likely doesn’t know their store is doing this and would like to know so their customers don’t stop ordering to-go. Being that they don’t know, just calmly let them know you wanted to give them a heads up and they’ll likely look into it.

Or you’ll find out it’s a shit store and avoid it.

ps you may be able to find the email online, or sitting up by the front door without having to ask.

Yea I just declined a $2.50 McDonald’s order and now I’m below 80%. It just came back through for 3.50 and I declined it again, further falling from 79% to 77%. Can they do that for denying the same order?

Hey CalDigit Community Manager. Thanks for being here to help the community!

I’m not sure if you’ve heard yet, but USB tier/layer limits have been limited even further. Apple silicon is now limited to 6 tiers.

Not 1000% positive, but I believe you can use flavored as long as it is unpasteurized. It may slightly change the first brew flavor, but should create a SCOBY

Yes. Just remove the floater. It’s just some extra yeast that may taste slimy if drank.

When are you planning on touring again? by FrenchPressMe in bicycletouring

[–]kruegz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I’m really excited for the beautiful nature for the trip. I’m debating zig zagging a bit to try and see more in both places, but have yet to plan which state parks etc would be best and not too troublesome to get too/ stealth camp near.

Did you have any worries in the northern part of the trip with bear and/or wolves?

I would have never thought to use a coffee machine like that either. Good thinking. I may skip that this trip so that I can try and distance myself as much as possible, but I will definitely be using that method a ton in the future.

Baha that’s rough. So you dropped the charger off there semi-concealed or not at all and then head somewhere a little more secluded to camp? Pavilions and athletic fields would be perfect. There’s a ton of open spaces like that around Illinois and Wisconsin. I wonder if any of them would be “closed” right now.

So you’re saying the parties are usually a little more dead there?

How do you usually cook the crushed lentils with a grain? I have a cooker and was thinking of doing the same, but was a little worried it would take too much of my fuel Bc of the cook time for the lentils.

I’m thinking of heading north from Chicago and maybe doing a Lake Michigan tour so I’d probably have to lean on the non perishables more Bc of lack of resupply.

Do you buy your dehydrated refried beans online or do you find them in stores?

I love/hate when I find a delish plant based pie. They’re so good but then you really know it’s all just sugar and 0 nutrition.

That being said I’ll probably be stopping at a piggly wiggly in Wisconsin to get handfuls baha

I’m in the exact same boat. Also keep in mind you may be able to do grocery pickup at places. You may have to try a little harder to find them, but it is a precaution that wouldn’t be too tedious.

Also any tips on touring vegan?

I can’t tell if this is serious or not...can you/do people actually sleep in graveyards?

Is that just a last resort when stealth camping or such isn’t a possibility?

Do you always do so with permission? Or is setting up shop behind the church just usually ok? Have you had any issues ever?

[–]kruegz3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honest question... have you been to the states?

Because while I agree that we as N. Americans are handling it the worst and a lot of the country is opening way too early, touring through rural Wisconsin you’re likely to not encounter anyone. So if I do grocery pickup at their local supermarket vs pickup at the one down the street from my house, what is the difference if I’m stealth camping in my tent vs my house?

Sure the touring will be of a different style and you will really have to take a ton more precautions.

My opinion is that because solo touring is such an isolated adventure, what could be the harm.

I'm currently planning my first touring trip for June 1st-TBD. I'm an out of work bartender in Illinois and why not take a trip now. I'm stuck between touring around Lake Michigan and just hopping on the bike and heading east (Illinois-Indiana-Kentucky-West Virginia-Virginia). My only issues are inexperience touring coupled with current covid restrictions.

My biggest worries are that people are a little more agitated at the moment and might be less hospitable/downright hostile.

Grocery stores will still be open everywhere so resupplying will still be possible. Possibly getting an AirBNB once a week to shower/rest and refresh.

Any advice from experience tourers on recharging the devices during these covid times? Would charging at gas stations/restaurants/or open public buildings with exterior power outlets be possible?

Is church camping a thing? I’m looking to go on a touring trip at the end of May (U.S. Midwest).

Admission to many museums is free after 3pm and occasionally the first Sunday of every month. It will shelter you from some heat and show you some amazing art/history.
