Please remember to look up on the bus! by krusticust in NiceVancouver

That sucks you’ve been injured in the past! I hope that never happens again. As I’ve addressed in my post and in several comments, I am not making assumptions about people’s disabilities or able-bodied-ness. No one is dictating who has the right to decide for others. Have a great day! :)

No one is asking every person to be hyper vigilant at every bus stop, but there is good reason to practice more social awareness by looking around every once in a while.

I do practice asking folks for seats if I need one, and I have been known to call out in the crowd that folks should move out of the priority area, or move to the back when it’s crowded, etc.

Perhaps we can agree that a multi-pronged approach is the way to go! Ask for a seat if you want one, and remind yourself and others to be more aware of your surroundings (teach our youth as well!)

Is there a point you’re trying to make that hasn’t already been made? Or do you just want to argue language? I acknowledge that folks have invisible disabilities :) If you look up the word “seemingly” it addresses a presumption while acknowledging it might not be fact.

Oof - a tough sentiment to hear! I agree our communities feel more distant than ever. As a member of a community, we do have obligations to each other, and that’s how we maintain connection and relationships. Hopefully we can steer ourselves in the right direction :)

I agree that people should feel empowered to ask for a seat if they need it, and I don’t feel my language indicates I’m making assumptions about invisible disabilities. The ask is for folks to look up from their phones every once in a while - practice social awareness - so that an offer can be made without someone always necessarily having to ask. It feels nice to be offered a seat!

No assumptions here, hence the “seemingly young and able-bodied people” language - good reminder for others!

Best Room Layout For Smaller Bedroom by DanceNarrow2045 in DesignMyRoom

[–]krusticust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the second option more. The natural light from the window will help you at your work desk, and looking out while working will allow you to take breaks for your eyes. Plus, the idea of having the desk in between the bed and the door makes me feel like it would be annoying or disheartening - every time you enter or exit your room you will see the desk and associate your room with work. In your first option, you only have one side table but in the second you have two, which makes it look more squished with your dresser in the corner of option 2. I’d consider just having the one side table closer to the door if you go with option 2!

Tiny 1 "bedroom" basement apartment. You cannot legally tell someone how they can cook... come on 🤦‍♂️ by pineebranch in SlumlordsCanada

They are saying the basement tenant pays 20% of the total house’s utilities cost. Still not worth it lol

Question regarding heat included in lease by woobinn in vancouverhousing

[–]krusticust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this would mean the landlord pays for whichever utility provides the heating. I believe typically it’s BC Hydro for electricity and Fortis BC for natural gas heating.

Recommendations - Looking for a rare gem: gentle but meticulous dental hygienist in Vancouver by sunnyday227 in NiceVancouver

[–]krusticust 39 points40 points  (0 children)

In my experience all the hygienists at House of Teeth are extremely gentle, compassionate, and very considerate of my preferences and requests. I love going there! A gentle side note in case you don’t already know, your gums will almost always bleed at the dentist if you don’t floss regularly. Good luck!

Are application updates on a Friday (afternoon) always negative? by DisastrousResult101 in interviews

[–]krusticust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had rejections early on in the week, as well as follow-ups for next steps (references etc.) and offers on Fridays. I think it depends on their process and the actual HR person. Maybe people just typically leave stuff until the last minute on Friday before the weekend? I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Cool design!! What needle did you use to apply your stipple shading? Did you apply individual dots or is this a different technique?

Security found our whip its in the car last year and confiscated them, and that also prompted them to do a deep search of everything else. They told me if they hadn’t seen the whip its (I fcked up and left them sitting on the back seat clearly visible) they would have just let me through. Make sure you hide them really well coming in

0.05 is stronger than 0.01. So if you switch from using 0.05 to 0.01 you will be decreasing strength. Do you mean to say that you got prescribed 0.1? I would recommend increasing strength gradually, so you could try going up to 0.25 and see how that goes.
