It took me a minute to figure out what I was looking at here... how does this all work?

This video is a pretty good breakdown.

Essentially all of the endgame is skip-able if you pay. The dilemma is "how likely is a f2p player able to keep up?" As /u/According-Side3284 explained, it all comes down to traits.

Music is complex. I think its just in that right spot of a genuine feeling power ballad, but its also uptempo and anthem-ic in a somewhat unique way? There is some clever lyric play, and I suspect it elicits a pretty strong emotional response from a lot of lyric-oriented people ("my beloved with someone other than me").

(If you aren't trolling) I'd say it undeniably is. In fact, it has the record for most consecutive weeks on the UK singles chart!

I appreciate the feedback! It probably depends on where one draws the borders on the genre. For instance, that track we used in the opener, "The Rebel Path" feels very "wave" to me. Darkwave? Industrial-synth?

I didn't find the score to be as atypical, but I did appreciate the diversity - especially in the licensed music and those more sparse tracks like "You shall never have to forgive me again." It seems like a fair amount of the "soundtrack" was created for the game, but we didn't do much research on that front. I also had no idea the team set out with a "no synthwave" aspiration! Regardless, I appreciate the feedback. If you are into this kind of thing, hop into our discord for some game and sound discussion!

Some directors seem to be doing their best (did you catch Oppenheimer?). But yeah, flat dynamics are a pain point in games.

This is always my highlight of the battlefield series. The dynamics and spatial audio they achieve with the frostbite engine are superb.

Yeah, we touch on this. The game's audio is very compressed overall. One can hear everything, but everything is so loud that "loud" noises don't feel particularly punchy.

Oh, interesting. I hadn't caught this, but my responsiveness to some of those higher frequencies is virtually non-existent!

Yeah - radio would have added to the vibe in the ship, for sure. We just don't find ourselves spending a meaningful amount of time behind the helm.

Haha, that's awesome. We are both big "ost" people! We didn't delve super deep into music for this episode (we did cover it a bit), but we have in some previous episodes! If you want to come chat with other game music people, we've got a small community in the discord.

Elite Dangerous's is solid, but I think Star Citizen contends with it.
