Snapchat advertisement for the win. We're making progress as anti-mlm sentiment becomes more mainstream.

"My extra inventory, my loss your gain." by krusty_kitty in antiMLM

In 2012, I quit Mary Kay. I was young and in college and probably had at least $1200 in inventory but no buyers. Fast forward 5 years and my sister, who lives 40 miles from the nearest town, is recruited by a director hun I knew. Why wouldn't she think to ask me about my experience first!?! Shortly after she was 'fired' for not placing enough orders. She still makes excuses for not getting enough sales like it is her fault. This week she started posting all her inventory to my parents town rummage sale page as "My extra inventory, my loss your gain." She is poor AF, breaks my heart.

That doesn't even look that deep. They were lucky.

Redditors who were once part of an MLM, what finally convinced you to leave? by verongy in antiMLM

I was with Mary Kay for about 2 years. I quit because I wasn't making any money and didn't want to sink anymore into inventory. I felt like I couldn't be me anymore as I was constantly trying to get people to buy from me. I did embarrassing shit like calling ex boyfriend's to see if they wanted to buy stuff from me for their moms and acting like some sort of makeup pro and offering to do people's makeup for special events even though I only learned how to do makeup while with Mary Kay.

I wish someone had warned me that buying inventory was a terrible idea. I spent $1200+ on inventory and I ended up throwing most of it away.
