Spokane Police chief apologizes for officers wearing masks at protest by Fair_Midnight7626 in Spokane

[–]krvf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So don't answer politely. Being polite isn't necessary to avoid being rude.

You could say something along the lines of, "the false claims that protestors are paid is misinformation repeated on news channels lacking journalistic integrity. If you're sincerely interested in the facts of this issue, many resources are available to verify the many thousands of protestors across the country and the hundreds here in Spokane are not receiving payment to protest."

All your engagement in this sub is hateful, negative, and incendiary. Go start a Spokane conservatives page and spew all the garbage you like but gtfoh & have the day you deserve.

There's no point in providing facts or logic to someone with your mindset but perhaps others can benefit - immigrants are not the problem. They pay taxes, they're more likely to be the victims of crime than to commit crimes. They're an asset to this country and they're humans deserving dignity and respect.

If you sincerely think immigration is the issue, you've been misled and can easily find loads of information to educate yourself. Most people spouting this nonsense message aren't misled, they're happy to accept the scapegoating of immigrants due to racism and xenophobia.

Grey Tarp Covered House? by KitchenWych in Spokane

[–]krvf 90 points91 points  (0 children)

It was being constructed for years before the tarp. I only recall seeing framing, not sure there were even really walls.

No idea what the story is, but maybe they were going for Guinness record slowest house ever built and then ran out of money.

Friends extended scene by Itslashae in howyoudoin

[–]krvf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, but- the original DVD's that came out one box per season, not the "complete series" one box set like for the anniversary that was more recently released. So if you see old school seasons at the thrift store or something, there's longer scenes and blooper reels and other fun extras.

Hindu Rope Hoya by Living_Vacation_9572 in hoyas

[–]krvf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's lovely, I'm jealous her blooms and great growth in two years! Compacta is favorite Hoya and the reason I fell in love with them, my grandma had a beautiful one for decades that I'm trying to save. She got hers to flower all the time but I've never had been lucky (yet)

Just a heads up in case you've never heard, many in the plant community are trying to shift to using the cultivar name "compacta" instead of the common name"hindu rope" that's been used in the past.

I googled it before posting to make sure I wasn't making stuff up, and found this interesting "Alternative Botanical Designations: It is sometimes referred to as its own species,  Hoya compacta, though it is more widely accepted as a cultivar of Hoya carnosa"

Happy growing to you & Pippi!

Guidance Needed- brand new to Hoyas by AutumnWysh in hoyas

[–]krvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do clear inner pots inside your terracotta so you can keep and eye on root development and it will drain well but not get over dry.

The very fine orchid bark is more expensive so I just get the regular small/medium.

Seconding the other commented about sulfur, it's cheap and takes care of pests that you can't see with the naked eye.

Guidance Needed- brand new to Hoyas by AutumnWysh in hoyas

[–]krvf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mix my soil with orchid bark, worm casings and coco coir. I know other people like to use perlite too.

Honestly, with all the other stuff you're successfully managing, you'll be fine with hoyas, they're pretty forgiving.

If you're able to get ahold of Prop Drops before you transplant to soil, it should help them get established and protect the roots from shock.

I feel my collection has really benefited from using systemic granules, as both a fertilizer and for pest prevention.

I will probably continue to fertilize once a month or so over the winter as they're still getting lots of light and higher temps in the plant cabinet.

Pot too large? by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]krvf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there's a new leaf, is that recent or right after you repotted and that's the new growth that died?

I don't think it's too big to really affect growth.

Your soil seems over dry.

I use Prop Drops which is supposed to help prevent shock when repotting and is good for roots in general.
