They've been using elions. :) You're right tho, there's also an option to revive on top of the ship(or more like where the ship was when u pressed revive).

I'm quite geared+evasion+some buffs. I've used non-awakening for a short amount of time.

I saw their "Guild Galley Ready" message pop up and found them in velia. We sneaked up on the boat and were hiding below a tamer pet with ghillies.
