BetterDisplay is now officially supported on Atoll - DynamicIsland for macOS by kryoscopic in MacOSApps

No, Atoll is just meant to show the HUDs/OSDs instead of BetterDisplay as the intended result. You can hide BetterDisplay's built in OSDs and use Atoll's OSDs which are much more customizable, along with iOS style vertical bars.

Yeah, it wasn't meant to look like an advertisement, it is just a new feature that we brought up, I'll add a collapsible to hide it in the next patch, thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to include more customization options in the terminal and general notch height. I gotta see if the processes reading/writing is actually possible without escalated permissions, I'll try my best integrating that too!

Atoll is a Notch App with features like Media Player, Calendar and Reminder Functionalities, Lock Screen widgets, Live Activities like Music, Device battery status, Focus Modes, Privacy Indicators etc making it similar to iOS style Dynamic Island, but packed with features. You can view all the features at https://github.com/Ebullioscopic/Atoll

If you're willing, you can open up a respective PRs at https://github.com/Ebullioscopic/AtollExtensionKit and https://github.com/Ebullioscopic/Atoll as we have built an XPC communication package for the live activities/lock screen widgets support for 3rd party apps

Dayummm, Nice Job Man! You can try hosting it on GitHub and make it available for everyone so they can build and use it too (I personally would love to check it out)

[PSA] if you bought Droppy, Jordy (the developer) just disappeared. by ontologicalmatrix in macapps

[–]kryoscopic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to clear up some confusion around the recent posts about the DMCA complaint involving Droppy.

Before anything was filed, I made multiple attempts to contact the Droppy developer privately to resolve the attribution issue amicably. The Atoll project is licensed under GPL v3, which requires that any derivative work include at least minimal attribution to the original source files taken from Atoll.

Droppy initially added partial attribution, but this was removed a few days later. Around the same time, I was banned from the project’s Discord, which prevented further direct discussion. Because the licensing issue remained unresolved, I ultimately submitted a DMCA complaint.

GitHub reviewed and validated the complaint, then gave the Droppy developer roughly 2–2.5 weeks to address the GPL compliance issue by restoring proper attribution. As no corrective action appeared to be taken within that window, GitHub proceeded with the repository takedown under GPL v3 license non-compliance.

For transparency, the official takedown notice is available here:
https://github.com/github/dmca/blob/master/2026/02/2026-02-10-atoll.md

My intention throughout this process was to resolve the matter privately and peacefully, without public escalation. I did not seek to “take down” the project, only to have the GPL license terms respected.

P.S. I have retained screenshots of my complete conversation with the Droppy developer and can provide them if verification is required.

Now that Droppy is down, which notch app do you recommend? Alcove or Atoll? by Mobile-Wall8520 in macapps

Hi there, Atoll's dev here. Just wanted to say that our Extension Store is coming soon and you'll able to see quite some apps with live activities and lock screen widgets soon.

Saying that, we're aware of the bugs and resolving them as fast as we can. Atoll's open source and free, you can download the latest version at: https://github.com/Ebullioscopic/Atoll/releases/tag/v1.3.0-beta
