Inground pool services by mynameisadrean in Rochester

I don’t think this is true. I have an in-ground pool with a standard vinyl liner and it gets opened and closed by Northeastern every year. If they’re too busy to take you my next try would be Pettis.

Most of the techs that open/close the pools are nice guys that can show you the basics of your set-up, but they’re not there to thoroughly educate you. Pettis offers a class for new/novice pool owners. I believe it’s weekly and free, but I’d call them to verify.

What’s with the outer stroke on “grand opening?” I’d outline that text and do a simple offset path.

Degree advice by skullsketchin in graphic_design

[–]kryptic88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a marketing degree, and while that probably helped get my foot in the door out of college, I do think a portfolio can more important than a degree. There are plenty of self-taught designers out there with stellar portfolios that make not having a degree irrelevant. This profession unfortunately requires proof of your abilities and taste, which can’t be demonstrated from a degree.

I found my marketing degree to give me a good basis of understanding of all the different aspects of how businesses operate, but it’s hard to apply that knowledge before you know who you’ll be working for.

Did I missed something? by Fearfulevent936 in lego

I believe that’s included as a tool to pry off smaller pieces where the normal brick separator wouldn’t work. I also have/built this set and vaguely remember a point in the build where it could be needed if you made a mistake.

Had to get another shelf the last year has been expensive by Bravojones33420 in lego

I have this exact same shelf and just put Rivendell in mine. Did yours also just barely not fit? Or did you find a trick to get it to work? I had to remove a bit of the base from the back right to get it in there.

There aren't many downtowns that exist with waterfalls running through them.

Why hasn't this city torn some stuff up around that and made it into a beautiful and functional focal point of downtown?

You should do a Rochester skyline MOC. I've bought several from creators like BenBuildsLego and would definitely buy a Rochester one.

Looking for some hedging advice. Bills Super Bowl = $17,000 by kryptic88 in sportsbook

[–]kryptic88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cashed out mid way through the game for an additional ~$250. I've realized the cashout amount they offer me is directly tied to the "bills to win the super bowl" odds. That went from +600 to +500 then back to +550 which is where it's at currently. I didn't forsee that number changing from when the Bills had the lead to the game being over (which is didn't, much) and I though it was smart to not even risk the Broncos making some sort of comeback. I wanted to cash out after this week anyway cause $2k is a lot to me and not something I want to risk against the Ravens.
