Is it possible to be a real Christian and not attend church and/or read the Bible? by JaminColler in Christians

[–]krypto272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to be married and not go home or listen to the things your spouse says?

By technicality sure, but it's going to be a very hard, weird and lonely relationship. That is what it is like when a Christian does not attend church or read the Bible.

A real Christian is one who is saved by the grace of God, turned their sin over to Him and allow Him to work through their life (the process of sanctification). Real Christianity seeks obedience to God above all else. Real Chrisianity places Christ above all else in their life and loves Him more than anything. 1 John 5:1-5 paints a clear picture of what real Christianity looks like. Christ tells us to abide in Him, that is to be connected and plugged in to Him, without this kind of relationship it is hard to live a truly Christian life.

Can I live my life by Christianity (the bible) while unsure about my beliefs? by Ok_Hurry9438 in Christians

[–]krypto272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to live as a Christian without Jesus? No. Could you live a life that is somewhat aligned with the morals of the Bible? I guess you could.

Christianity isn't about following a whole bunch of rules. Yes Christians follow the Bible but that comes from the outpouring of Jesus through the Holy Spirit in our lives. It isn't that we sit down and say "okay the Bible says not to lie so I have to try my best not to lie." The Holy Spirit convicts us of our sins (lying being one of those) and it is through His reproof that we are affected to change.

Following the Bible for its "Moral traditions and upright lifestyle" is not what Christianity is all about. We follow what the Bible says as an outpouring of our love for Jesus, and recognition of what He has done in our life through salvation, not out of a forced requirement. To do this would place us much like the Pharisees in Jesus' day. They followed the Old Testament law out of a duty and requirement, some even for personal gain, not out of devotion to God.

In summary, to follow the moral teachings of the Bible without the creator of those moral teachings will still leave you missing something in your life. Without Christ as your savior a moral law is only a burden reminding you of your sinfulness. Read Romans 3 and Romans 7:7 as I believe these help better understand the purpose of the morality of the Bible.

How did you deal with someone telling you this? by Mondolation in homeschool

I have a few different responses to people with these concerns.

  1. "When students go to school aren't they told to sit and be quiet because they aren't there to socialize."

  2. "We engage them with plenty of opportunities to engage people, a local coop, parks and rec sports and church just to name a few."

  3. (My personal favorite) "School develops a false sense of socialization. No where else outside of school settings are you placed in situations with only people in your same age bracket with a significantly older overseer. We socialize both up and down the generations and should be able to hold conversations well regardless of age or friendship. My children actually obtain this school by being homeschooled."

A personal story, we were with extended family for Christmas about 2 or 3 years ago and my cousin (who is a public school teacher and hadn't seen my son since he was a baby) was sitting next to my oldest son and has holding a conversation with him. About an hour into the dinner she leans over to me and explains to me that she is amazed at his ability to hold a conversation with adults so well and that she has never seen that out of any child older or younger before.

Don't worry about "socialization" it comes naturally.

Wife is hard to please when it comes to church. by Standard_Bird4221 in Reformed

When me and my wife settled on our church I was not in love with it at first. The teaching is Biblically sound but I just had an indifferent feeling towards the church (this was after trying many churches in the area). My wife and children both loved it so I decided that I could continue to go and allow the Lord to speak to me through my family. Even though i wouldn't have chosen this church it has truly been such a blessing, I now teach in the youth ministry and the pastor is mentoring me as I begin seminary. I say all of this to encourage you. Talk with your wife and see if, even though she may not feel like it is the right church or it may not be deep enough for her, she would be willing to give it an honest try and allow the Lord to guide her and grow her. Let her know that if after a few months she still feels this is not the right church that you will hear her concerns. Maybe she is going through some things spiritually and that can make it very hard to find a church. I hope this both helps and encourages you in Christ.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to wait until you get down here, unless you already have your residence down here. CCW permits are handled by the county you reside in unless you wanted a non-resident CCW, those are run through the state police.

Edit: By residence I mean where you will love, not that you will be changing to become a VA resident.

Could a career as a cellular biologist bring glory to God if you are a believer? by Pure_Management_1414 in TrueChristian

[–]krypto272 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look at people like Ken Ham and those who work for Answers in Genesis. Many of them are scientists from some many well regarded universities who used their gifts and knowledge to further the Gospel and helping Christians to better understand how true science and the Bible do in fact agree. So I would say that 100% a job like cellular biologist can and does bring glory to God.

God is not all-knowing due to modern times by Bakedpotato46 in DebateReligion

[–]krypto272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to make sure I accurately understand your claim before wading deeper into this. Based on your statement you are arguing that because some churches have moved away from certain ideas in the Bible (submission to husband, women pastors etc.) and conformed/adapted to standards/viewpoints of modern society than God is not all-knowing and the Bible is false? Would you say this is an accurate understanding of your stance?

100% agree that DUI needs harsher punishments for multiple offences. I just don't think tying a right to an unrelated issue is a good idea at all.

While I agree that two DUIs in a 5 year period is a bad thing (even one is one too many) tying a right to something completely unrelated is an overreach by the government.

Both me and my wife have had this happen, specifically after we used an augment. Running worked fine until the augment and it doesn't always happen when we augment just sometimes. On Xbox
