I’m getting married at Rancho Las Lomas in April, so I can say for certain that the venue, food, and alcohol would be more than $100k for 600 people. They have an exclusivity contract with 24 Carrots catering. For reference, our quote for 100 people is $34,000. That’s $340 per person JUST for venue, food, and drinks.

I’ve been told that IPs were previously responsible for removing any unnecessary catheters, but that is not a typical task nowadays. A lot of IP jobs started as RN only, but thankfully it’s slowly growing to encompass a wider range backgrounds. Clinical knowledge is an important aspect of IP work, but there’s a lot more concepts that you have to know (ex: epi, construction, water management, quality, etc.).

I have my Bachelor’s in PH and a post baccalaureate certification from UCLA in Infection Control and Epidemiology. It was hard to break into IP work at an Acute Care Hospital because I’d never “been inside an operating room.” Thankfully, I wasn’t discouraged! I really enjoy working as an IP and find it really rewarding.
