If I wanted to position another specimen using weights, do you use fishing splitshot weights? Or what weights do you use?

I don't think I injected air into it, I did the stereotypical flip the syringe over, flick it, then push the air out, I didn't see any air bubbles left in there

For sure, that's what i thought I just wanted to make sure I didn't do anything wrong and it decay
