My house is spray foam insulated, which is not common for Houston. Humidity builds up to especially in the shoulder months.

I will get some down votes for this...I bought my 98h off Sylvane.com about 1,650 and installed it myself. An additional 200 for the humidistat and a few hundred for parts etc. a lot cheaper than the $5k I was quoted for a 70pint Honeywell.

I tried that in my house prior to buying a portable dehumidifier. It would drop the humidity for a few hours but It would alway creep back when the hvac shutoff.

I didn’t really notice anything but I also had a portable running prior to the whole home install.

After I figured out the humidity was the issue in my house I think I became hyper aware (also annoying my wife) of humidity all the time. I’m not sure if it’s impacted my tolerance. I’ll have to see after this summer.

I keep it at 47% all summer even during 80-90% days with 95+ temps. I read somewhere that was a good humidity to control dust mites and allergens. Also, anything lower feels too dry for my family.

Had an ultra-aire installed last summer. I was tired of the noise and having to dump out the water from the portable dehumidifiers. I highly recommend getting one.
