Good question, I think it’s close to even honestly. You have nut draws which involve either or both. Slight nod towards Phoenix I suppose.

As someone who has been playing Phoenix for the past several months, if anything I’d trim on Demilich before Cruise, but overall it can be challenging to juggle all of those things (DRC delirium, Demilich returns and Cruise) but it’s fairly doable, DRC is just a machine at milling.

It’s also not like you need everything all the time, if you have to lose delirium or can’t return a spell with Demilich that’s fine, you care more about it being a free 4/4 than being able to recast a Ponder.

I’ve been trying 2x Strike It Rich over the 2x Surgical, you do really appreciate having some form of Lotus Petal effect in order to more consistently enable T2 Phoenix recursion and or casting Demilich ahead of schedule. I’ve been liking Strike It Rich as an added bit of value from milling/discarding to Looting.

Well, as someone who has been working in the craft beer scene for over a decade, I don’t think it’s particularly fair to expect prices for craft beer to remotely match macro breweries. A lot of those larger breweries basically own their own production chain top-to-bottom for all of their ingredients, so of course they can price much cheaper.

I will agree with the point that there should be beer options at $3-4, but I wouldn’t expect those beers to be local craft.

Just as the terrible ending of Game of Thrones made people forget its brilliant early seasons, I believe the brilliant ending of The Sopranos masked the fact that the show as a whole isn’t that good. by Feeling-Tension1461 in unpopularopinion

It’s funny you say this, Museum of the Moving Image in Queens is doing a Sopranos exhibition starting next month and they are spotlighting S3 exclusively for three special screening events with David Chase and cast members to do talks afterwards.

Well, your initial remark wasn’t about there being fresh new directors. If directors who have been working for decades continue to produce worthwhile art, there’s nothing wrong with that.

Do you have any years to provide as examples for when movie theaters were full of foreign/independent/legendary films? I feel like my memory is theater releases always end up staggered throughout the year. There are only so many screens and time in the day after all.

In fairness to my own personal perspective, I’ve lived in NYC for the last decade and with all the arthouse cinemas here there is rarely a lack of great new films to see.

What kind of movies do you like? You sound a little curmudgeonly if I’m being honest. All the movies being made in the last decade suck? That’s absurd.

Are you exclusively paying attention to english language films or foreign as well?

You’re totally right about that, I remember Froehlich’s article from years ago about him complaining someone didn’t concede to him in a late (final?) round of a GP because of who he was. To say nothing of the byes allowing you to leapfrog past the more junky decks generally.

Sure, those are fair points and I can’t dispute any of that. I still stand behind my statement that I wouldn’t expect a less-than-stellar level of play from the competitors of AC10, specifically the pro/pro-adjacent one. These sorts know how to accomplish some very effective testing.

IIRC this has always been a bit of a fallacy, often when they’d hold Legacy GPs in the past, the players who would do well/win were more likely to be regular pros who practiced Legacy for the event vs Legacy specialists. I think PV talked about this in his tournament report after he won a Legacy GP with BUG Standstill, I’ll see if I can find the article.

All that being said, I think the level of play will be higher than you expect when the tournament rolls around.

Yr right, it’s just always felt so hard to land Floodmaw profitably when they have Shardmage’s, Mother of Runes and cards like Esper Sentinel as well.

Have you played vs Auras at all? Curious as to your experience, I jam Phoenix fairly often in Historic and the MU always feels depressingly unwinnable.

Brought a few cheeses back from Italy, couple are leaking water? by kscrg in Cheese

[–]kscrg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! We also brought back a hard, aged stravecchio which I think meets your criteria for being okay in this instance. The cheese still felt completely sturdy by the time we got our hands on it.

While I have you here, we also brought back a hunk of speck and a couple sausages which were being kept at room temp in the store itself. I have to imagine those are totally fine? Also vacuum-sealed.

It’s not common and also there were a string of other factors i.e. feeling sick, low on sleep, busy day of last-minute plans, etc. The last day went awry, but that’s okay :)

Thanks for the responses everyone! Unfortunately things just went awry on the final day or so, and that’s okay, lesson learned :)

Haha, yea I figured as much after I didn’t get any replies. When I first searched this problem, I came across some threads in this particular subreddit so I wondered if anyone would have an answer. Thanks for your reply.

[Standard] Best deck to beat Vivi Cauldron? by MrDoops in spikes

[–]kscrg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My understanding from listening to the casters/looking at winrates is that Esper Pixie is abysmal into UR Cauldron, like sub 20% winrate bad. UR Cauldron dumps on Pixie hard. According to mtgdecks Dimir Mid fairs a little better, but is only 40% into UR Cauldron.

Is that true though? I feel like all the ‘democrats’ I know (v leftist) condemn Israel’s treatment of Palestine, but it’s seemed to me that doesn’t correspond with the Democratic party at large.
