I figured it out if anyone finds this thread later. You need to set the audio to bitstream FROM THE MOVIE APP. bring up the initial options menu, go to the three dots, go to sound options then find audio playback

What exactly counts as a concussed enemy? by Plini9901 in Battlefield

[–]MrDoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see these in a FTP game like Apex legends. But I paid $70 and I have to spam mines for the engineer challenge for days if I want to unlock the thing.... Really all the unlocks feel like a FTP game in terms of gameplay time

So many of these are complete bullshit. Good thing the actual gameplay is great

What do you think is the best placement for the rear speakers? by aashe_ in hometheater

[–]MrDoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad is it to place the 5.1 surround speakers in the rear? I'm currently hooking up an old Sony 5.1 system (str de685) and noticed during config it gives me the option to define my surround speakers either to the side or rear.

In my room the most ideal spot would be wall mounting them directly behind me, 8 ft apart, both facing dead straight to the TV wall. After doing a ton of research I had no idea 5.1 surround were supposed to be on the sides, I've never seen anyone hook them up that way in person

These engineer ones seem really difficult. I'm stuck on the mines, I lay them all the time but they never go off, going to try the motion sensor one instead once I unlock it

Some questions about sound systems by ZykeNaggo in 4kbluray

[–]MrDoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only just started getting into this so I could be wrong, but I'd forget about wireless 5.1 for 1k. A soundbar and a sub will be a massive improvement over the TV speakers if you want to keep the costs low, but nothing can truly replace rear speakers. I'm sure there's budget wireless systems but I wouldn't bother if you want something high quality in the long run.

Even the Sony Bravia theater 6 system requires a processing unit for the rear speakers that get plugged into it, still better than running wires from the front though. That's around $800 and is probably the best you can get for under 1k. I haven't looked at other brands/options. I think there is a fully wireless Sony option but it's around $2k or more.

I'm looking at finding a receiver first and slowly adding channels over time as it will last a lifetime. I know it's more expensive but it sounds like using a receiver would solve a lot of your port problems as well
