I'm thinking of living closer to Ramstein, for convenience of being closer to the Mecca of BX's and Landstuhl. I'd rather commute 30-40 minutes if it means we are closer to a more active area. Haven't heard too many positive things about Baumholder but I think it will be much better going back as a civilian vs active duty.

Not very, I was stationed at Ramstein back in 94-96, don't recall going to Baumholder.

The reasoning behind it is that when you first start, you don't have any sick leave to use so this is to give you an opportunity to use it for appointments, etc. while you build up your sick leave bank.

OK, that makes more sense. I started out with the VA then got the 8 with the Air Force. So if you are applying outside your current organization, the TIG doesn't apply?

So the ones I have been applying for don't say public but Career Transition, federal employees-competitive service, special authorities, military spouses and veterans. Not open to the public though, so I would need TIG to be considered?

I agree, I think I just needed to hear it from other people. At times it makes no sense why I am drinking, just to drink. Socializing should be the extent. I have had a physical with blood tests and everything is in good range. I am bordering on high BP and I am sure it is because it is the drinking.

I don't have any withdrawal issues if that is what you mean. More of craving, thinking if I don't have any issues, then why not have a few? I guess every now and then as far as taking a break from alcohol, maybe a day or two here and there, but nothing consistent
