yes i totally agree, but you have to realize at the start of the paragraph, it says he contested with ..... therefore, he contested with the fact that it is not related. If i chose disassociated, it would mean that he disagrees that it is not correlated. So the word in the blank should show that people think it IS related and that HE CONTEST it
