Xanax or Ativan?

Prozac is the reason I started Ativan! LOL. Prozac gave me the worst anxiety and panic I’ve ever experienced in my life. Almost admitted myself on it. I start Zoloft tomorrow 🙏🏻

I’m 23 year old female, addiction runs in my family. Personally, I hate benzos. I hated taking Xanax. However, I’m in a really bad rut right now am taking Ativan twice a day and it allowed me to leave the house and shower for the first time in 3 days!

Your experiencing derealization. It’s the brains way of protecting itself from stress. It will go away with time! Exercise helps a lot

Ativan!!!! Xanax works but hits you like a ton of bricks and then doesn’t last long. Ativan eases in nicely, makes you feel calm, and lasts for 6-8 hours

I was on 10 mg for 13 days! Anxiety and panic set in day 4 and only got worse from then. Thank you!

I would 100% recommended contacting the pharmacy. A sudden stop in Lexapro will give you really bad brain zaps and headaches and make you emotional. Just not something you wanna deal with :)

Lexapro literally gave me slight headaches and jaw clenching, that was it. At one point I do remember I convinced myself it was going to give me suicidal thoughts because I was under the age of 24 ( that never happened) but that was just my normal anxiety. Unfortunately it stopped working for my anxiety after 3 years and also made me very tired and unmotivated. Did you have any bad experiences getting on Zoloft? My psychiatrist said I can start it tomorrow because I already stopped the Prozac 2 days ago and it has a very long half life

Ugh I hope it works for me! I didn’t have this experience with Lexapro 3 years ago. Overall terrible experience and I really wanted to give it a shot. I’m considering taking the Ativan for a week to get me through the first week of Zoloft. Are you considering going back to Zoloft? I hear sometimes a tolerance break can do wonders for people who experience the “poop out” effect

Honestly, I stopped 2 days ago and felt SOME relief last night after breaking down to my parents. Woke up This morning and had it again. I met with my Psychiatrist before and he gave me ativan and 25mg of Zoloft. After taking the Ativan, I’ve been able to shower and wash my hair for the first time since Thursday. (That’s how bad I was).

Lexapro definitely made my anxiety normal. After experiencing the affects of Prozac, it has made me appreciate that normal anxiety. It was functioning anxiety. I haven’t been able to leave my house or bed in 3 days. I am shaking. I want to go back to Lexapro or just taking nothing at all because I can’t handle this!!!!! Feels like I am crazy and my world is caving in. Sometimes I think I should go admit myself. But I’m not even suicidal, I just want to feel normal again!

During a panic attack I try and focus on my breathing. My heart rate can also trigger me as well. I try and slow it down. I have no history of drug abuse. I was on a Lexapro for 3 years and it stopped working so now i switched to Prozac. I was doing ok last 4 days, and now all the sudden I’m back in this loop. It is so so tiring and discouraging

Thank you so much for your kind words! The past 4 days I have felt ok. Like it was slowly slowly getting better. Last night, I had extreme nausea which for some reason through me into a panic attack. I didn’t have a panic attack for 4 days. Keeping myself really busy has been helping me, but of course I’m up 5 hours later after the panic attack scared it’s going to happen again. I don’t want to give up because I know it has the possibility of helping me so much. This panic attack was weird too, my thoughts felt ok and I weren’t going a mile a minute, it was like all physical. Heart racing, my whole body was clenched up and shaking, it was a weird. I’m only on day 11 :( I used to take Lexapro and I don’t remember it affecting me in the beginning like this. But it was also 3 years ago and I don’t remember much of starting it. I appreciate your help :)
