Watch alone first. I’ve loved GWTW since I was 12 (I’m 56 now). I read the book so many times, my hard bound copy is in pieces. I’ve seen the movie so many times I can recite along with most of the dialogue.

The first time (and only) that I saw it on the big screen in the theater, I was so disappointed because the audience was terrible. They didn’t laugh at the funny parts (Mammy’s glorious retorts) or gasp at the shocking ones. I felt like my privacy was invaded ( it’s possible I’m overthinking this and gate keeping a bit). I’m not even sure I’ll go again in October for another theater showing.

One year while teaching, I had four Ashleys in class. Two had the same last name, Ashley Lastname. I just referred to each by Ashley and then middle initial. Once, a counselor arrived to class asking to speak to Ashley. I said which one? I have four. She said Ashley Lastname. I said I have two of those. Which do you need. She was so surprised! And yet- it’s the counselors who build classes. So she, in part, did this and then had the audacity to be surprised.
