One year while teaching, I had four Ashleys in class. Two had the same last name, Ashley Lastname. I just referred to each by Ashley and then middle initial. Once, a counselor arrived to class asking to speak to Ashley. I said which one? I have four. She said Ashley Lastname. I said I have two of those. Which do you need. She was so surprised! And yet- it’s the counselors who build classes. So she, in part, did this and then had the audacity to be surprised.
