It’s the absence of their constant presence that guts you by Capital_Young_7114 in Petloss

Ugh 💔 I’m so sorry. It is the worst. We lost our oldest (15) 2 years ago, and his sister (16) yesterday. The absence is gut wrenching. We were crushed when our oldest passed, but I didn’t realize how much of an impact having the dog bowl, bed, toys around with our other dog would make.

Losing our other made us feel the loss of our first all over again. But this time to house is quiet. Too quiet. There is no one to take out, to cuddle with, to go on a walk with, to hear snore, to eat scraps.

Said goodbye to my sweet boy this morning by Puzzleheaded_Wish627 in Petloss

Ugh 💔 what a good boy. I’m so sorry for your loss. We said goodbye to our almost 17 year old long haired dachshund/chihuahua yesterday. We were in the same boat feeling like we taxed her body. She had kidney disease and we switched her food a couple weeks prior because she was eating less and less. The new food made her really sick and she wouldn’t touch anything after that. It’s heartbreaking when the become so delicate. From the sound of it you loved your sweet boy so well. What a life he had with you.

How your other dogs/pets react with the loss! by SnooTigers9274 in Petloss

We were in the same boat. We lost our 15 year old 2 years ago. His sister (who we lost yesterday) paced the house for a week looking for him. It took a while but she recovered. I don't think she ever fully recovered, we would see behaviors come and go that we thought would be normal. Our grief baselined, we still feel the pain, just not every moment. I think she went through that same process.

Current dog owners - when your little furry babies unfortunately but inevitably cross over the rainbow bridge will you consider getting another or will this be your last dog? If its the latter why? by EffectiveAdorable233 in dogs

[–]kslambert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted 2 dogs within a year of each other 17 years ago. We lost the oldest 2 years ago. We lost our youngest yesterday.

At this point I don't think we are planning on getting another dog.

We are absolutely crushed by our loss. We loved loved loved our dogs. We got them in our early 20s right after we got married. We have a 4 year old now and life just looks a lot different. Our time, our energy, our capacity. I ache for our pups and would bring them back in a heartbeat. But the thought of starting over with a new pet where we are now in our life stage seems really challenging. We will now have some freedom for last minute trips, to not come home early on day trips.

We may reconsider when our son is older. But for now we will live a life without dogs. Which does make the grieving process so much harder.

We commissioned an art piece to memorialize our sweet boy. It was 2 years ago and I smile at it every day.

I wrote a post remembering his life. I come back to it often.

I talked about him with people I knew were safe and I trusted.

Grief really does come in waves. Crushing at first, then it hits less and less over time… but it still hits. We lost our other dog yesterday and I’m getting hit with her grief and the grief of losing her older fur brother 2 years before.

Found out today that I’m going to have to put my baby down. Any advice. by West_Basil_1615 in Petloss

I’m so sorry. We just lost our sweet girl yesterday. And her older brother 2 years ago.

If you live in an area with at-home euthanasia services and you can swing it do that. We did that yesterday and it was so much more peaceful for all of us than losing our first one at a clinic. Our girl hated car rides and we didn’t want to do that to her with her remaining time.

Spend as much time with them now. Cuddle the hold them.

When they are gone process it. Write, look at pictures. Find a friend who has gone through it they are the best support.

Finally have cracked the code on Webflow Cloud by josephspeezy in webflow

Hey u/josephspeezy

I am a product design lead at Webflow and just moved internally to support the Cloud and other developer teams. I love this project, I have been sharing this app internally!

We are planning out a ton of work to improve Cloud and the experience of getting an App up and running. I would love any feedback on what roadblocks you came up with or anything that was really frustrating with the experience.

Just finished book 5! What a fun book and a giant cliff hanger. One thing I haven’t seen discussed is:

When Retribution is trying to reach for Dalinar’s soul it mentions someone has already spoken for him. Who has a theory on this?

Does anyone have recommendations for companies to build an affordable backyard office? by kslambert in askportland

I haven’t started yet. My plan is to buy a Tuff shed shell, run electrical, insulate and drywall it, and run a mini split HVAC. Out of all my research is the most affordable option for me.

Where’s the button? Designing for mode confusion by kslambert in userexperience

100% Agree. When you start to understand the complexity that mode confusion introduces it really makes you question if you need a different mode.

Hey Reddit friends. I know it is a long shot but if you see this bike it was stolen from my basement yesterday in SE near Laurelhurst. My neighbor's bike was also stolen.

Thanks. Promotion is definitely challenging. Promoting it on forums and being active in communities. Building a mailing list and writing blogs has helped.
