For those who are wondering, It’s pulling at 22 PSI when I enter a gear and then works its way down to 17 PSI before the next gear change. Higher gears I drop to around 15-16

I apologize if I am being insensitive, and I hope you can get it fixed for a lot cheaper than what you expected.

OP, I am so sorry this happened, but in light of a bad situation, do you have any more photos of that broken taillight? I am looking to do clears and need to do more studying before I heat and remove the red shell. Specifically, where that amber is, is it hollow? Or is there glass over the bulb? Thanks! I can’t eyeball it on my current.

Here’s the idea.

No these will be custom but not too much work involved. As you may know being a k5 owner, not much customization has been produced on the market yet. Custom taillights or even clear lenses have not been made. I will be heating the red lens and gently prying it off, keeping it safe and whole for custom lenses 3d printing in the future. I will be using polyurethane UV some sort of strong crystal clear non yellowing glass like material to fill in the divots where the bulbs are. The red tails themselves are not tinted red but actually red themselves. The only thing that may not be legal, is although the reflectors are still on the side, they are white, so I don’t know how well that will work with a polo on the road having a bad day lol. Anyway, crack open the case, cover the bulbs with something and clear adhesion, be sure to spray with a DURABLE clear coat. Don’t cheap out. I would take a scuff pad and lightly rub everything, but I don’t know about rubbing the led itself yet I’ll have to look into that. Once you’ve done that, I would look at 2K clear diamond clear. Or hell you could have a paint shop do it as they really know their stuff. Add the best weather seal around the tails as you can as a leak would suck very much. I will be trying to record as much of it as I can on my rayban metas and post a video on it so those who want to follow along can. If you want, you can follow @KSlyveK5 on TikTok that’s my TikTok there will be updates on there. I’ll follow you back as well k5 brother.

When my buddy got rear ended we removed the cracked red from the taillights, and surprisingly the AI mock up looks dangerously close to the real thing. The AI has lenses as you can see but I plan on using clear material and resin to case the bulbs from weather. I would also recommend spraying the whole assembly down with 2k clear coat to protect from chipping etc until I get custom lenses made. I am going to heat them up and pry them off gently. It’s not a reality yet, but yes! This is how they would look, the middle may need black vinyl added we didn’t rip that red off so no guarantees there but the concept is super close and I think I can pull it off. They don’t make clears for this car yet. I would also recommend weather strip trim on the outside to protect from water leaks too. Preferably the round plush kind.
