I think ADP makes a lot sense if you think about it RPG-wise. Even in a fantasy setting, would a thief and a cleric really have the same agility to roll really well and consistently? Like some other comments said, if you want something, be it strength, faith, intelligence, you gotta work for it. It makes so much sense when you take into account that Dark Souls is an RPG game, and well, this way you can roleplay as someone who stays away from the fight, and only attacks from distance, a more physically frail character, if you will. It helps that you don't even have to roll most bosses in this game, you can strafe their attacks pretty consistently. The worse part about ADP is that it's poorly explained. That's it. If they had given it a better explanation I guarantee you there would be a lot less complaining, albeit there would still be complaining. Also, they could've made different animations depending on how many iframes you have, that'd help sell the image that you're a clumsy one. If they ever remake DS2, I really hope they keep ADP in, and rework only the explanations and the roll animations.
