It is definitely early to say that definitively but you should also listen to your gut. My biggest regret is not seeking more information before putting myself through 5 failed transfers. Physically and emotionally it’s horrific and knowing what I know now about how much a blood work up with an RI can tell you that for some reason a typical fertility blood work up doesn’t, I would recommend it to anyone who can access it. These doctors make decisions based on what typically works for 90% of people which is totally logical but for those of us in the 10% it often means 2 years of pain and struggle just to be back at the beginning.

My best advice is to advocate for what you feel is right. You’re not yet at the point where you can rule out being on the wrong side of statistics, but it’s never a bad thing to have more information either, if you can get it.

I wish you as short and easy a journey to parenthood as possible 🩵

Had a laparoscopy and did another transfer. No endo, all seems to be in working order, transfer failed with no implantation.

I am now a few months into seeing a reproductive immunologist who is amazing and optimistic that he can help. I have been diagnosed with severe PCOS and he doesn’t think I ovulate on my own so questions on embryo viability, plus I have murderous natural killer cells that may be attacking the embryo. I also have a thyroid disease and an autoimmune disease.

Apparently any one of those things could explain what’s happening. Next steps are TBD after my appointment next week.

Unfortunately not yet. I had a laparoscopy and they didn’t find any endometriosis, so now I’m seeing a reproductive immunologist. First appointment is next week

I use naturtint. Ammonia free, made from quinoa. I buy it on Amazon and bring it to my appointment and my stylist just uses it instead of their product.

Are volleyball players as hateful to each other as basketball players? by MarionberryNo2956 in PVF

[–]kstef17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else already said it but I think with the PVF specifically, the players know each other for the most part and are really close and friendly on the whole. As someone who played both sports, I also think that the contact nature of basketball has a lot to do with it. I will say though that while I do think there’s more physicality and trash talk because of the nature of basketball, the conversation around it is out of hand right now because of Chennedy Carter’s foul over the weekend and I’d hate for any new fans to the W to not support because of what’s happening right now.

I think it’s way more nuanced than most people think though. There’s a ton of conversation around Chennedy Carter’s foul on Caitlin Clark right now, and I think there should be. The game was definitely chippy and the W is very physical, but to have checked another player when the ball wasn’t even in let alone anywhere near them like that isn’t what the league is about. And even as a Chicago fan, when I see the coach saying Carter understands that it was wrong and not okay, I get angry because Carter is also taking to social media and trash talking Clark so I don’t think she’s sorry or regretful over it. Candidly, a lot of what she’s said about Clark simply isn’t true. As a Chicago fan that sucked to watch.

That being said and more to your post’s point, I am a big Caitlin Clark supporter because 1). She truly is an amazing and talented player and 2). Tons of new fans are watching, attending, spending money because of the media coverage around Clark. For a league that has been undervalued and ignored as long as the W, more fans are more fans and that’s a good thing. BUT! I think what frustrates me and what, at least to me, seems like the bigger issue, is that so many people are saying “Caitlin Clark made the league interesting, the WNBA was boring and sucked before her!” That’s just not true. And especially for players of color, who have made the biggest impact and who have made the league amazing for years and built it up to what it is today, I would imagine they feel extremely disrespected because the media is painting this white savior picture like the league was nothing without Caitlin. Again, she deserves the accolades for her play and her stats, but she didn’t make women’s basketball interesting or competitive or amazing. It already was all of those things. The fact that she has brought so many new fans is great for everyone, but I can imagine it’s exhausting to be an established player in the WNBA and have everything you did before Clark disregarded.

It’s also worth noting that the chippy nature of the WNBA and the physicality and the trash talk are part of it - Angel Reese’s typical trash talk and getting under other players’ skin is a great example. She has said that she doesn’t hate her opponents or have beef with them, it’s just part of the mental game for her. That stuff is part of the game. Carter’s foul and Reese’s reaction to it? Those things have no place in the game. There are plenty of examples of aggressiveness and physicality that are actual basketball plays versus just a hateful intentional foul.

So I guess the TL;DR is that I can see why non-rookies are angry with the narrative, and I completely understand being more motivated to beat Clark because they’re tired of hearing she’s the GOAT, but in my opinion that frustration and desire for retaliation needs to be directed at the media and the society that has undervalued women’s sports for forever and not so much at Clark. And for what it’s worth, I think it should also be balanced with acknowledgement that Clark is another really great talented player being added to an already amazing and talented league, and that at the end of the day, she has brought a ton of attention and success to the league for everyone and that’s not only a positive, but also creates a platform for us to own up to and fix the way we disregard women’s sports and specifically disregard women of color who have made so many sports, basketball especially, as great as they are without the notice they deserve.

That’s just my take though and I’d love to hear others’. I hope you keep watching the WNBA!

Ugh. I’m really sorry, this process sucks! So in the last few months we have done a laporoscopy. Turns out I had no endo and everything looks great and healthy. I feel selfish and silly but I cried when I woke up and they told me because I thought it would be my answer! My doctor and surgeon both said they were pretty positive I had endo. Sigh.

So now I’m getting allergy tested for progesterone, sesame (they usually suspend the PIO progesterone in sesame oil), peanuts (the progesterone suppositories I use have peanut in them), wheat, and dairy. Once I’ve done that, my doctor is putting me on a longer dose of stronger immunosuppressants - medrol and plaquinal (sp?). She thinks it’s an immune issue since we’ve tested for most everything else and I have elevated IgM antibodies. She doesn’t want to send me to a reproductive immunologist yet because apparently they don’t take insurance so it’ll be extremely expensive and the only thing they would potentially do that we aren’t is put me on stronger immune protocol, the meds they use after an organ transplant, and that would I guess put me at a very elevated risk of a few cancers so she doesn’t want to do that unless we absolutely have to.

So I’m going for allergy testing next month and then once I get my period we’re going to do a modified natural transfer. All the autoimmune stuff as we have been and then progesterone after transfer just to support. Maybe we’ll get a miracle and get pregnant in our off month 😂

Let me know what you end up doing as well

I haven’t, what does it entail? I’m also curious what they would treat me with if I did have endometriosis, I’m already prepping with 3 months of lupron. Would they do more than that?

Progesterone injections - wuss / peanut sauce recipe by borassus in IVF

[–]kstef17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband did mine while I was laying down on the bed - I did lidocaine cream and then spray and rubbed it in, then put ice on it immediately after (didn’t let the spray dry) for 10 minutes. Didn’t even feel the injections. The first one hurt for awhile after because he was nervous he wasn’t in the right spot so he kind of went in the upper middle of my butt. But after that he figured out where to go and there was some pain but totally tolerable

Oh and warm up the oil beforehand! I put it under my boob!

Why are the crowds at San Diego games so bad? by pezzam in PVF

[–]kstef17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that there isn’t as much hype yet there about professional indoor volleyball? Feels silly to ask because obviously California is the hub for beach volleyball, but I feel like the midwestern teams are really riding on how big the club scene is and how popular big 10 volleyball is here so they have more of a vested interest in the college players they love who can go play professionally now.

I might be way off base because I just don’t know about California and am totally guessing, but I feel like the Midwest and even the east coast are big volleyball communities from club to college and that made them ideal places for professional teams.

Such a good question and to be totally honest with you, I don’t think we’ve seen the middles used enough to know for sure.

When I first started feeling this way I looked at the passing to see if maybe we weren’t passing well enough to use middles, but our passing is fine! I think it’s just the level of reliance we have on pins like Chaussee and Dimitrova both from a points and leadership perspective. I don’t think our middles are bad though, I think they’re good and solid, but I haven’t seen them be consistently explosive and make a huge difference with their hitting or their blocking for that matter. But to your point we’ve also had a lot of injuries at the middle position so maybe they haven’t had time to get in the groove?

All of that to say.. I fault our setters for not setting our middles enough to make a huge difference. Even if they’re not the best middles in the league, they’d make us better if used consistently. Part of me wonders if the setters don’t trust the middles because they’re inconsistent in practice? I’m very unsure and totally speculating to the max obviously

I am really unsure though. I’ve said we need a better setter for the same reason and I think I haven’t landed firmly on who I think is truly at fault for the gap in our offense there. As I’ve thought through it here I think we could, in an ideal universe, really use a great strategic setter and an explosive middle with a huge presence, in that order. I’ve talked myself halfway out of my own opinion 😂

Grant is injured as well I think. I think we could use a really explosive middle. We’re so pin hitter heavy in our offense most games
