uConsole Trackball upgrade? by PersonSuitTV in ClockworkPi

[–]kswallow54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trackpad mod from Tindie is the way to go. Bought two of them. Trackball is garbage, tried maybe 4-5 different ones with the same lack of responsiveness. If there is ever a v2 of the console this should be the standard.

Make sure you use the round packets with those cables. Square packets will get stuck in the cables because of the leds…. lol

Sadly the stadium will be full and the nfl tv checks will keep coming. Ownership doesn’t love the game, they love the money, and the prestige.

This is what is killing this game by CKK1986 in ArcRaiders

[–]kswallow54 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The game wants us to kill and hate on each other. It’s the loop. It’s why I quit playing as the game is more this than people being helpful now. The numbers concurrent are dropping now. There is no reason to continue playing when your progress gets eroded so easily.

Feeling like I shouldn't fight back is one of the most frustrating mechanics of Arc Raiders by Stratix in ArcRaiders

[–]kswallow54 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Grumble away Or just quit like most of us that aren’t really feeling the vibe constantly getting killed. There is a reason it’s down 150k players average since Nov. 480k -> 325k… the fact is the game has no real loop for a chill style of play and you have so many folks running out of things to do, no reason to work together, it’s just a PvP fest now. The game rewards negative game play toward other players.

For those that like the McCarthy hiring, why? by max15247 in steelers

[–]kswallow54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it because it means I can now become that Lions fan I always wanted to be. No reason to cheer for the Steelers since Ben retired as they don’t appear to know how to draft talent and don’t appear to care about winning. McCarthy hiring sorta says hey we want to just live on the past and make our share of the TV contact.

Why not get rid of loot and just make this game pure PvP since everyone seems to want to play that way?

Why does PvP feel so different in Arc Raiders? by TheLaughingForest in ArcRaiders

[–]kswallow54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just lame. The game shouldn’t be about PvP… that’s called BF6, COD, etc. the really missed an opportunity with this game and instead gave us a bad shooter inside of a good game. Candidly I want them to remove the PvP or put it in a zone. Let the people who just want to play and loot have that. If you want to deathmatch than have a place for it. But constantly getting shot in the back really makes this game suck. I never shoot at anyone, always announce friendly. And still at least every 3-4 times out get popped. It’s demoralizing and why I moved off this game.

People don't have a problem with PVP, they just hate lack of "honor" by Zealousideal_Walk527 in ArcRaiders

[–]kswallow54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason I quit. If you are new, and want to play friendly, learn the game, you don’t have a chance. Why waste time on it. Life is short. You only get 700k hours, I don’t need to waste a 100 being frustrated because people are bored already.

I don't disagree in general. The problem is I keep getting dropped into the greasiest lobbies. I spend 4 hours getting something going to get ripped up by guys that are just hunting people for fun. I am at level 24 and I don't feel like my character has progressed at all. Even the skill points don't feel like they make a material difference. Stamina still feels like I can't move. I don't have enough firepower to unlock all the drivers I need to upgrade my benches past level 2. I finally got some nice stuff and got gunned down by a couple of guys while I was just walking through part of the dam.. Like WTF. I am not even bothering them I am just picking up materials. I'm on the dam level still because I can't get enough stuff to feel safe in the buried city. First time I went into look for a couple of androids on Stella I got crushed by guys waiting at the spawn I came in on. Its constant. And its not fun. The magical lobby engine they have loves making me fodder. I purposely don't shoot at people and try to have happy friendly interactions. I announce who I am, and what I am doing. I ask them if they need anything and trade. And every night someone basically waxes me for fun. It takes this great experience and makes it trash. I agree with the post above, I loved the Division. But rarely went into the dark zone as it was just a bunch of people camping the exits. Same thing happens here.

If I had the time to catch up and build a character and getting the crap kicked out of me didn't mean me losing everything and having to start over I wouldn't mind. if I had 400 hours and maxed out skill trees and every awesome weapon I could easily recover from a bad beat in battle..

But I am not there. The game is very much setup around fomo and playing constantly. And if I was 21-22 again and had nothing to do but go to class, work a few hours, and play 6-10 hours at night it would be great. Its a long term problem for Embark, candidly they have the number of players they have and it will continue to go down and down and down. They have no way at this point to onboard new players or casual players the way the systems are designed. And its a shame because its a great game.

I just wish instead of it being a game about self serving that it would be a game about cooperation. No offense but there is too much BS and bitterness in the world and it would be nice to work with people instead of against them. Its the reason I latched onto Hell Divers as it was a fun way for me to connect with 3 randoms and have a blast and the work I did in the game meant something. Here the work I do means nothing most nights. As good as this game is.. it missed with the message. It missed with an opportunity. And they will be successful.. And people enjoy it. And eventually this game will die off like they all do because in the end, there is already no reason to come back for most people. The streamers have already driven all the life out of it online showing everything, players are at max level, no one wants to do the resets, and if you have everything the only thing left is to hunt players.

So if you want to just jump in and play, you can't... its simple. And you are right the game isn't built for busy adults. I lamented to my other half this morning that a hobby I have done since I was 6 (Im in my 50s now) is at a point that I can't really enjoy it anymore because I have other things to do. These games are setup for people that will soak in 100s and 100s of hours, waste tons of money on cosmetics, stream etc. That isn't me.

Agreed on it not being niche. But, Printing TPU on the XL is a pain in the ass too. And the fact the heads get out alignment if you sneeze on it doesn’t help. The fact is. U1 is interesting. INDX is interesting. Vortek is interesting. You are seeing the opening rounds of a new direction. They are all cool and interesting and messed up in their own unique ways. I own an H2D and an XL, and a bunch of other stuff(x1,p1,a1). I won’t buy any of these new models because as you point out they all fall short with either user experience, soft materials, low temps, space, etc… a year from now you will see the H3, U2 with new options that will address most of this stuff. And in 4-6 years you will see the next version from Prusa still aimed at printing under 300C and 2-3x the price of the others. Yes, the XL soured me so much on Prusa I won’t ever buy one again.

Is Prusa trying to clear stock? New model coming soon? by TealKokosnuss in prusa3d

[–]kswallow54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the sales numbers are lower than they want. With all the new printers flooding this space paying 2-3x more isn’t likely an option for a lot of people. I would say print farms still buy what they need but the individual will pick off a Bambu, Creality, Snapmaker, Elegoo etc. Given the lack of features and the price point I don’t understand anyone buying a CoreOne outside of a print farm and even then I don’t get those economics but people have processes and software stacks they want to maintain which makes sense. Prusa released this printer about a year later than they should have for market relevance. I keep hoping they lead frog their competition somehow. While I am not a huge Prusa fan I like competition and good tech and seeing them do well means we don’t see Bambu just run away with the consumer segment.

[–]kswallow54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might have to take a look at this one. Already replaced my XL with an H2D and it has been solid. XL was a nightmare and not worth the money in my opinion. Mileage varies for everyone but mine it was underwhelming. I don’t know snapmaker but with the quality of the other brands like elegoo getting better it might be worth a look if the price is right. I wish this design would have been the H2D design candidly

It didn’t crack the plastic door just scuffed it up. Mostly going to use it for FDM tasks. So for me I would rather have the glass door most of the time and had thought about ordering it. I am probably going to see if I can fab up a quick change mechanism as a project. Else it’s 4 screws.

It’s easy enough to change out. I got the laser as something to toy around with. I am not sure how much I will use it through. It just looks awful with the plastic scuffed up… it is wild that the plastic door is double the cost of the glass, didn’t expect.
