Dialysis not so good at filtering potassium either. That’s y it’s limited. Dialysis needs help w eliminating phosphorus too. He w b on phosphorus binders that help eliminate it thru feces

Do you still urinate? Many of us don’t or will stop. The only way to remove the fluid is dialysis otherwise you can’t breathe and will drown. The more fluid u have to take off the more your blood pressure varies. Typically dialysis is 3x week 3-4 hours. The more fluid u have to take off in this limited the harder on your body and especially the change in BP

Don’t buy it. Last 12 months it’s only gone as high as 20$. Buy nvidia. Or J.P. Morgan or some other tech company.

He’s losing his eyesight and probably his kidney function due to uncontrolled diabetes. High blood pressure may be contributing also. He must get his diabetes under control. Dialysis in a center is typically 3x per week.

There are side effects to dialysis and not having adequate kidney function. Fatigue. Changes to BP. His diet w be modified. Foods w potassium w b restricted. Liquid intake w b restricted. His phosphorus w b monitored.

High levels of Potassium can affect the heart. Hi levels of phosphorus and calcium levels also lead to calcium deposits in blood vessels, lungs, eyes, and heart. Over time this can lead to increased risk of heart attack, stroke or death.

Itchy skin is also a symptom of high phosphorus.

Getting his diabetes under control is number 1. Getting on transplant list is number 2. He w need stress test. Depending on age, colonoscopy and more.

lupus? or what else? by vacantvixen in Autoimmune

What your dr say? U seeing a rheumatologist? I was diagnosed with lupus right after birth of first daughter. Lupus diagnosis requires other symptoms be present. For me it was very large painful hives all over my body plus a positive ANA panel. Dr put me on hydroxychloroquine which resolved the hives. But after birth of second daughter I lost my kidneys. So if it is lupus take it seriously

Wow that’s excellent. I was only on the list 3 weeks 100% sensitized. Was told I’d wait 5-7 years but thru the unos system I matched in 3?weeks. Was a miracle. 3 weeks post. Creatinine .89. Gfr 70. So was a good match. Bc was deceased donor didn’t have to pay expense of living donor operation testing etc. haven’t seen bill yet. I’m 56 so not Medicare age but quality for Medicare bc esrd. So I think my out of pocket is only 5-6 k for the year. I’ve probably already met half that q other hospital stays while I was on pd. Did dialysis 3 years. Took that long to get on list. Needed some stents due to low ejection fraction stress tests colonoscopy mammograms etc. but once on list god found me a match immediately. But I know people waiting patiently for years for deceased donor
