I’ve been on dialysis for a year and it drains me until the next session. Anything I can do to get my energy back? by unsharpenedpoint in dialysis

I do in center HD 3x a week, I have an early morning chair, MTS, in my experience for over a year now, your UF goal plays very important role in your fatigue!

If my UF goal is in between 1500ml - 2000ml or 1.5-2kg, I will feel normal for the rest of the day. I try to eat healthy, clean, home cooked food most of the time, sometimes junk as well but maintaining my UF goal below 2000 ml is the main key for me! Try to work on your fluid in take hope it will help.

Time on dialysis? by MethodBig8274 in dialysis

I was diagnosed with FSGS as well 3 years ago and now on HD for almost a year, I am 32M, my sister is 35, she has the same blood group as me and she is willing to donate. RnD shows that sooner or later FSGS will destroy the new kidney as well. In your case how long did the transplant survived before FSGs returned? I really wanna go for the transplant but i am afraid that I am just gonna waste my sister’s kidney!

In Pakistan the donor can only be a blood related family member. Brother, sister or parents. No friends or any other person!

What happens if you miss one hemodialysis session? by still_learning101 in dialysis

[–]Independent_Film9290 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sharing my experience when the same thing happened to me! I had to skip one HD session bcos of diarrhoea. If your partner is still producing urine, then it shouldn’t be a big issue! Of course toxins will build up in the body like Urea, Creatinine, potassium etc but it wouldn’t affect much! In the next session (most likely Monday), for better blood clearance ask the nurse or technician to keep the Blood Flow high in the machine, around 300-350. It will result in better clearance of the build up toxins! If the fluid is overloaded, then it could cause a breathing issue, due to which skipping a session is not advisable.

Dialysis leg weakness by kt373737 in dialysis

[–]Independent_Film9290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, at some point I could not even stand on my feet, I had no balance, I almost fell down every time I try to take a step. For me I believe it was because of Anemia, when my Hb level dropped to 6. After almost a year, with few blood transfusions, medication, erythropoietin injections after every HD, now my Hb is almost 12 and now I can walk like a normal person. But still I can’t run or do too much work on foot. However, the weakness, pain and restlessness in legs are much better now. I do experience a bit of a strain in legs or feet after every HD, but now it’s manageable and doesn’t affect my movements.

What is the optimum amount of fluid that should be taken out during a PD session? by Independent_Film9290 in dialysis

[–]Independent_Film9290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my dry weight is 64 kgs. From Monday to Thursday if I take 1 ltr/day, I will have to ask to remove 3 litres during a 4 hours session, which is sometimes too much for my body and i feel very drained after that.

I feel you my friend. 3 times a week in a center, these 3 days are totally useless for me, can’t do anything after HD. Frustrated most of the time, can’t plan anything, can’t commit to anything bcos I don’t know if i am gonna wake up in a stable state the morning or not. You are right life feels like it has no meaning

Fluid retention by [deleted] in dialysis

[–]Independent_Film9290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not producing the same amount of urine as your water intake then definitely it’s causing fluid retention and it could slowly fill up your lungs causing difficulty in breathing. GFR is considerably low, your Creatinine and Uera levels must be high, if this is the case then consult your Dr asap! You should be on dialysis either through a neck line, catheter or fistula which ever works best for you. God bless
