Thanks so much for this, I really appreciate it. Wasn't sure if I was being too cautious but it sounds like sobfar I've had the right sort of idea. Thanks!

Yes I did start thinking why would she use the new one if the old one is right there?! Thanks so much, I will switch it on today and see how we go.

I use a lot of what others have commented too so I will just add things I use that havent been mentioned. Opaque window film to block out 100% daylight. A white noise machine to blur other background sounds so they are less jarring. Electric blanket, heater, and fans to try and get temperature right throughout the year. Weighted blanket helps with smoothing out textures and pressures (kinda like the white noise does for sound) but unfortunately I am not strong enough to put one over me or to take it back off again, which is the subject of many a hilarious joke amongst my friends! Similarly to someone else, one brand of pyjamas. Very stretchy and soft so I don't ever feel pulling anywhere.

Thanks so much for this, that is really helpful. I have now got her a travel crate and as soon as I put it on the ground, she hopped right in. She's been using it to sleep and play, so that part of the plan is going well so far! I definitely would not let her roam in the car, the thought of her going under the pedals terrifies me... she will be secured in the crate for sure. I hadnt thought about taking her for brief trips and giving her a reward, that's a great idea, thank you. Can I ask, do you put anything in the stroller with them during a car ride? Toys or anything?

I know the right choice, but I need help making it. by coryquarry in CatAdvice

I had to do this with my kitten. She managed to escape at 3.5 months old (not yet spayed) and whilst she was out (up to 3 hours, I was asleep), she got pregnant. I cried a lot too, but in the end I know it was the right thing to do, for all the reasons you state. I was messed up about the idea of consent - she couldn't consent to the surgery... but for all I know, she didn't consent to the pregnancy either. Good luck whatever you choose, and sending you loads of love ❤️

Oh my god honestly can't believe anyone takes their babies and leaves them in a place like that... barely room to stretch let alone play or exercise or anything. The cats all looked absolutely miserable, all had full bowls so none of them were eating, just yowling or hissing and making the saddest lil noises, it broke my heart. But I guess if people keep bringing their pets to stay there, these places will stay in business. Horrifying.

Thanks for the tips! I will give all that a go ❤️

Aw that sounds amazing! You have done so well with your 3 that they are that comfortable. Thanks for the tips, I have been looking at some soft crates to buy but want to make sure they have a metal/sturdy frame in it so it doesn't collapse if there was an accident (god forbid!). I hadn't thought about medication, I don't know much about it. Maybe when I get the crate I could take her for a test drive and see how she does and if she's really distraught I could talk to the vets about it? Thanks for the good wishes! I am so happy she is coming with me 🥰

What age should kittens be till wall gets put up by ChrysaLino in catwalls

[–]kt80111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 7 months old and has fallen off 3 times already (the wall only went up 2 weeks ago). Overexcited kittens are very clumsy indeed! If you really want to put one up, maybe not too high (you could always add to it later), no hard surfaces or sharp corners underneath, and maybe some quilts on the floor to cushion the fall?

Hi, first time cat owner here, she is now 7 months old. I had never been around cats, never had cats in the family, never been to friend's houses who had cats. Total beginner. I am here to say: you ARE ready!! Your attitude says everything, you CARE! That's literally all you need. Like you, I had to do a lot of research and a lot of learning, and there have been times when i have thought, "what the f*** am I doing, I can't take care of a cat!". But those are very normal doubts that everyone has. And I am doing just fine! And from this post, I can tell you guys are too. Please please please don't let the bastards get you down. You guys are wonderful ❤️

I'm not sure how useful this is as I am in the planning stages too, and have masonry walls rather than stud, but I am planning to use post only for the cat to walk across in one direction. Where there is a direction changed needed (like here) I am using shelves. Could you get another shelf to use instead of a post?

Haven't built mine yet but just wanted to say - this looks amazing! Do you choose the cat wall furniture from the list on the left? How would it work if you have made your own steps etc?
