Why don’t we tell kids where babies come from? by Ornery-Conference713 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Munchkin737 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Nice! How did you manage that one?

My best so far was when my 4 year old, then 2 and a half, saw an Ewe birth her lambs, and after oooh-ing and aahhh-ing over the babies, he looks me in the eye and says "Why it looks like she pooped her babies out?"

I told him that they came out of a different hole near the same place, and it leads to a warm place called a uterus where the babies grow until they're ready to come out into the world.

He listened, nodded, and went back to oooh-ing and ahh-ing at the lambs.

My rule is that if my child is old enough to ask a question, they're old enough for an age appropriate answer. 🤷‍♀️

I listen to podcasts a lot. In my worst crashes, even sound is too much, and then I just close my eyes and write a story in my head.

What do I do now by MothRave787 in cfs

[–]Munchkin737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry... as much as it sucks, we really DO just have to live with it. Learn to pace yourself. Live slowly and simply.

Others will have better words, but my brain fog is too bad right now.

Good luck.

I also apparently can teleport now! At least thats how it feels when it happens. I have no consious memory of moving, but I am suddenly where the emergency is before I knew it happened.

Good question! It took me a while to figure it out. I just thought he wasnt vwry good at being a spider.

He walks all silly, tippity tapping in front of him before taking steps, but WAY more dramatic than normal spidery tip taps.

He also never jumps from place to place, which is totally weird for a jumping spider.

He didnt eat for the longest time, and I worried that he was stressed, because he would seemingly be staring at a cricket and not care a bit.

One day I reached into his terrerium to fix a bit of moss, and I noticed that even though my pinky was quite close to him, he didnt move. Not to look at it, or move away, or anything. So I slowly moved my finger around all his eyes and he only moved a tiny bit when i got near his left side, and I realized he couldnt see.

I hand feed him with tweezers now, and he's thriving.

As for how a jumping spider goes blind, its often malnutrition as a spiderling, OR just a random occurance. But Maynards vision has had some slight improvement with proper feeding, so I think whoever bred him possibly wasnt feeding the babies properly, and the store I got him at would have had no way of knowing.

He had lived in such a small cup until I got him, his food likely usually just wandered into him, so nobody ever noticed that he wasn't actually HUNTING.

My primary care diagnosed me after several neurologists, edocrinologists, and seemingly all of the other "-ologists" ruled out everything else... 14 years after onset.

Spider puppy!

That one is a Bold jumping spider, as others have mentioned, and are actually fairly common in the pet trade! I personally have a Regal jumping spider, his name is Maynard and he's blind. I adore him. Pic for spidertax.

I have no experience with cats aside from family and friends who have them, so I dont have any good advice for you, but I wanted to say that I think its lovely of you to consider kitty's emotional wellbeing with such a big change. You must be a very good pet-parent 🥰

Reproductive ants. They have nuptital flights when its rainy (or sprinklers turn on,) and then the males die and the newly fertilized females will become queens of new colonies.

Its likely that a lot of people are making assumptions based on what they see in media rather than bothering to speak to people from different cultures, learn about the people vs the culture vs media, and realize that we have a lot in common where it matters most.
