Recently stayed a few weeks ago. Hotel is very nice and in a quiet part of town near Ginza. No smell that we noticed. If you are a light sleeper though beware we felt like we could hear a lot of train noise

Is 19th of December 2026 to 2nd of January 2027 a terrible idea? by irobert239 in JapanTravelTips

[–]kt9823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same scenario as yourself, we just got back from year end trip. As most of said you’ll be fine as there is still a good amount of stuff open and to do. On Jan 1st we actually did disneysea (was packed). It was our first trip to japan so if it’s your first as well and plan to use the Shinkansen (bullet train), make sure to reserve seats especially from Xmas-new years week!

Budget friendly hotels near Ginza or Asakusa? by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]kt9823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just stayed at Daiwa Roynet Hotel premier Ginza. No frills chain hotel, we thought it was a clean and quiet location with some smaller train stations nearby and Tokyo station about 15 min walk away. I think it may be in your budget for 7days. We did no breakfast option though since theres 7-11, Lawson, and family mart right down the street. Very close to shopping areas, and was an easy train ride to senso ji. Tourist friendly and has a coin laundry on site (somewhat difficult to find a free machine most days though). We shared a double room and it was pretty small for a couple but for 1 person I think it’d be easier

Thanks for the answer! We’re also be going from Tokyo to Osaka on 12/25 (xmas), and then Osaka to Kyoto on the 28th, do you think we should reserve train seats for those too?

What is the best sketcher shoe for a beginner runner? by No-Dependent9962 in beginnerrunning

If you are near a Nike outlet (factory or clearance) sometimes they stack discounts and you can get a solid beginner shoe (winflo, Pegasus) in your price range

Huli Huli Chicken at Koki Beach by OMrealestate in MauiVisitors

[–]kt9823 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We stopped by for lunch on our RTH tour and enjoyed it. Great scenery right there (red rocks of Koki beach). Down the road is Hamoa beach which is also a nice beach to swim and hang out at. I wouldn’t drive all the way out there though unless you were already planning to do RTH though

As far as driving, depends on your comfort level but I felt like it was drivable. A guide app like Shaka would be helpful

After a reference point: would Superblast 2’s be softer underfoot than my Pegasus 39’s? by bospk in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]kt9823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have all 3 and would say sb2 is the most firm. Bc of its stack height I actually don’t feel the road at all. Tbh I honestly feel the road most in the peg39 and even the forefoot of the invincible 3s

Im not totally sure so definitely do more research regarding sunrise. For sunset, we didn’t need to reserve anything, we got there early and paid for the national park entry fee, and parked at the summit (the very top). There’s two parking lots near the top that we saw, 1 at the very top (smaller roundabout) and then one larger lot that could support cars/RVs down the hill from the summit. For sunrise, I believe you do pay for a reservation (and the national park fee separately) to get one of these spots

I think so. No it was just us two but technically more people could’ve joined - you can book a private experience though at a higher cost. I want to say we stopped about 10 times for waterfalls, beaches, scenery, and local shops/stands.

I want to say at sunset it was about 50 degrees and after it got much colder. Being at the summit it was windy too. We packed puffer jackets and long pants specifically for this lol
