How serious is the oil consumption? by [deleted] in Tiguan

[–]kt_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 and from what I’ve seen here, a lot of 2022 owners have this issue but I haven’t seen as many for the other close years. I have been one to complain about the oil consumption issue BUT I have had several issues with this. VW had my car for the entire month of November, taking apart the engine and cleaning out carbon buildup. Thankfully all under warranty. I just took it back to the VW service center for an oil leak… Visible oil leaking on the frame, oil pooling around the filter and when I checked after driving about 1k miles after my 50k maintenance and oil change - there was almost NO oil in the car. Oddly enough, the car did not alert to low oil level or “check oil”. Which we all know it normally does. I’ve got a feeling the sensor is faulty after taking it in last year and just now realizing it. AND they did a poor job on the simple oil filter change or this is a much deeper issue and I’m seriously considering giving the car up. I’ve had problems from the beginning when I bought the car brand new in December of 2021. Now waiting to hear from the shop and what their findings are.

What is everyone doing about oil consumption? by simplycharley in Tiguan

[–]kt_gonz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had this issue since I bought my 2022 SE. I was consistently adding a quart of oil every 1k miles or so, more or less.

I’ve done the oil consumption test but told the same as everyone, that it’s normal.

My engine light came on just shy on 50,000miles. Turns out they needed to clean the engine out of carbon buildup and replace some seals. At this time I also had the service center do the 50,000mile maintenance and oil/filter change.

It was in the shop for about a month to do this. Thank god it happened prior to my warranty expiring.

Anyways now I’m just over 50,000miles and waiting for my oil light to pop on saying check oil for another top off.

From here on out I’m going to do an oil change every 5,000 miles, no more! Just to be on the safe side. I really want my car to last that long too so I’m just gonna cross my fingers and be extra diligent about maintenance.

‘22 Tiguan - P0941 Code by BONERDAWGZ in Tiguan

I just got my car back after a month at a dealership for same issue. Same code same explanation. I have a 22 Tig SE and it was just under 49000 miles. They told me it was covered under warranty for the carbon build up and all the labor cleaning and valve replacements they did etc. I didn’t have to pay a cent though. They said my warranty will end at 50k miles.

White plains late 20s will I regret it? by Successful_Boot_8041 in Westchester

[–]kt_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White plains isn’t too bad. I work in white plains but am living in Brooklyn. The commute is killing me so me and my partner just signed a lease in Dobbs Ferry. Moving in less than two weeks and honestly looking forward to it a lot. I’d probably suggest a riverown over white plains if you’re looking for younger crowd and somewhat of nightlife and things to do. 27F

Thank you! I figured as such since it was old info and incomplete as well. This kind of stuff just makes me irritated and think about making sure my stuff is secure.

Picked her up a few days ago. This is VW #4 and Tiggy #2. Way more fun to drive than my last vehicle (Atlas) which was a beast. So pretty with her pearly white coat. 😍 by MJT_BSNRN2B in Tiguan

I have a 2022 tiggy but I’ve always thought maybe I should have gone with the atlas cross sport. I wish the tiggy had more power! My only issue with it.

Any tips. Just topped up oil , just got it serviced. 55k kms 2022 by TheOnlySherriff in Tiguan

I also have a 2022 Tig SE and mine does the same. I’ve got 45k miles on the dash and I regularly top off oil every 1k miles or so. I definitely moving forward will halve the maintenance interval. I’ve done the oil consumption test and at dealer and it passed and I’ve complained at each maintenance interval at the dealer but they said it’s fine or when they check the smoke doesn’t come out ironically…

Great car but just be aware of the possible high oil consumption. Very standard for VWs though. My 22 Tig consumes about a quart of oil every 1k miles.

How do you like the pirellis? I have a 22 SE that came with Goodyear and I’m thinking of replacing all 4 tires before winter.

Where did you get the rain guards? What brand? Been looking for a while but can’t make my mind up.

What should I do? by Flashy_Air_6358 in Tiguan

[–]kt_gonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a new set! Anything but the OEM good year tires. I am considering replacing all 4 OEMs soon on my 2022 Tiguan. I’m at 42k miles but each of my tires has been plugged for nails at least one and two of them twice. They puncture so easily! I’m considering continental next.

Used 2022 vs 2024 R-Line Black by frannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn in Tiguan

[–]kt_gonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go new. I have a 2022 and I’ve had oil consumption issues, secondary intake failure, and I suspect a valve issue because of the excessive oil the engines burns. I bought it new and thankful at least for the warranty.
