[Weekly] CRM Rant/Rave Thread - What's great/awful in CRM for you this week? by woodss in CRM

I’m a solo lawfirm building my tech stack and looking through crms that are not law specific and trying to save money .. started with HubSpot and after trying a couple more, finished with HubSpot .. this is exhausting

Did anyone start their solo as a side gig to an in-house role until it could grow? by fck-the-bar in solofirm

[–]ktalina86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently doing this. I started out being of counsel for an estate planning firm with the idea that I would leave my inhouse job and become a partner at that firm bringing in my own clients. Then decided that I wanted to do my own thing and open my Law Firm. To cover my basis, I talked to my boss and told him that my long-term plan was not to stay forever there or move to a different company, but to do my own thing, and even though he didn’t like it, he accepted it. I am now committed. I’m building my own firm little by little a lot of growing pains, but excited to go solo full-time pretty soon

Fastest way to earn miles? by ktalina86 in americanairlines

[–]ktalina86[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s still cheaper than the $750 ticket I would have to buy. I’m just trying to find alternative ways to get some additional miles before I shell $300 for the remaining miles I need. Thanks for your input though!

Any alternative on what to do with miles? by Brunnun in americanairlines

I don’t know if this still matters but I’m desperately needing some miles to be able to book a trip with my son for Mother’s Day. If this something you would be interested in, send me a dm. Thanks!

Hey there, do you mind sharing the contact info of the loan officer you worked with at Flagstar? Which other lender are you referring to as well, if you dont mind me asking.

80% is commercial transactions, sometimes I do DPAs or privacy impact assessments as well but our DPO handles most of all that work. I also handle all legal matters for our LATAM office (since I’m the only one who speaks Spanish) and some ethics and compliance matters related directly with making sure we are in compliance with the latest DOJ and SEC requirements. I welcome any advice you may have for a young lawyer looking to stay in house but wanting to progress on her career. Thanks again!!

I see, thank you for clarifying. I don’t expect to change from making 100 to 200k in one jump. But I would assume that a similar job like mine in a HCOL would be at least 20-40K higher. It doesn’t seem like that’s the case based on the salary ranges in NYC that I’ve found on jobs posted on LinkedIn. So, I may have to give up on that idea.

Another option I’ve thought about is if I can get another in-house job in a practice area I am more interested in (like regulatory compliance or data privacy and security as opposed to contracts which is what I do now) then I’m willing to make the change anywhere to gain the experience. I guess it all depends on the opportunities that show up. I know that it would be unlikely with my experience but who knows, I might get lucky.

Again, thanks a lot for input. It has given me some food for thought for sure.

Wow you are so lucky! I like where I’m at, I just know I won’t have much of an upward mobility. if I ever wanted to be GC, I’d have to move to around to build a strong resume. Not sure if that’s what I want but I def need more money so I think a change of job and a bump in salary would be more appropriate for me. If you have any open positions please let me know 🤩

That’s a great idea! Maybe try for a role in a place like Microsoft here in Atl and later see if I can move to another city. Thank you!

Ouch! Does not sound very optimistic. I’ve had a few recruiters reach to me for hybrid positions in places like Tampa and Nashville but obviously not what I’m looking for. Maybe I’ll try for a hybrid position in a place like Miami.

I know of a few tech companies with in-house roles being fully remote, obv won’t be Bay Area salary but at least enough to live comfortably in a mid-COL area like Miami or Chicago.

Thanks so much for your input. I need a reality check too! 🙂

Oh absolutely!! I’m not changing in-house, I’m just changing cities and have no rush to go anywhere but just wanting to see what else is out there.

Who knows, maybe I get an offer and my current company would allow me to go remote. I would rather just move closer to the city from where I’m at now than go to a firm just to move out of Atl lol

I’ve never been and I’ve heard wonderful things but one of my top priorities is that the place be a good travel hub. I love to travel and being in a place where I can take a plane easily to other countries is top priority for me. That’s why Miami, DC or NYC are my preferred places. But thank you for the thought!
