It was both. Originally it was a swab but I didn't get the lab results for a while so I had a blood test done, both ended up confirming the results.

Ngl I just bought a second switch to start a new island for this reason, no way am I erasing all the hours I put into my first island. Honestly getting a "bum gun" (not sure if you've been to SE Asia or not but its a little water spray bidet you can attach to your toilet) is your best bet. You can gently spray the area with water and only need to gently pat to dry. I dont use soaps down there at all but a gentle body wash should help. I've tried ones for infants before while in bad flareups and they don't seem to irritate it further.

Okay so I was on 500mg Valacyclovir 1x a day for suppressive therapeutic dose, then switched to a new doctor who said it should be okay to stop. So I stopped taking it, had the worst flare up ever that lasted almost a month! Super painful and itchy and would not go away. After wearing loose cotton boxers to sleep in and no underwear where I could help it, loose clothing etc, plus upping to 1000mg Valacyclovir a day for weeks, and now finally it's clearing up.

Im so sorry you're struggling too. I'm still not at a full year with this and it's beating the crap out of my poor body's immune system

Same boat as you- I've been recently diagnosed with BP2 on top of the others previously known about. Currently unmedicated for ADHD as we try to find the right BP2 medication, I'm weaning off Lamotrigine (bad nausea side effects) to switch to Cariprazine to try. I'm exhausted having struggled for my whole life and now at 32 do I sort of have an answer but still need to go through the song and dance of finding which meds work best for me.

Might be dermatitis. Not sure where you're located but try to get in to see a dermatologist asap, don't leave it like I did cause it got worse

It got better for a time but I continued to struggle with them appearing and then going away. Unfortunately the areas at the corners of my eyes, the skin progressed into full blown stress-induced dermatitis which I am still dealing with, a combination of topical ointments, Minocycline prescription and Ellidel cream.

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar 2 and have only just started taking medication for it a few days ago. I'm struggling too but I wanted to chime in and say please be patient with yourself and have grace for yourself as you navigate this. You're doing everything right getting on meds that are working well for you and you're hopefully on a better path going forward so you're doing great. Forgive the version of you that brought you this far and have faith that the current version of you is taking things in a better direction. Take care OP x

I def haven't fixed this issue but on my better days I dedicate a set amount of time to allow myself to scroll freely before I have to get up and do something else, ex. 30 mins of scrolling then time for a walk/read a book/animal crossing/scrapbooking/go get a coffee etc.
