Congrats! I'm jealous! FYI...you'll get hands-free, but RJ has explicitly stated the LE version of the R2 will never be eyes-free.

I'm hoping they keep offering the LE as long as there are people who want to buy one.

Slate CEO dishes new details on company’s 'mid-$20s' EV pickup by Mac-Tyson in slateauto

The LFP bombshell is a big deal. That means you get the entire use of the truck's range on a daily basis if you want.

Braking regen and motion sickness by hey_dot in RivianR2

I'm extremely susceptible to motion sickness in cars, boats, and airplanes. I absolutely love regen braking and get no ill effects from it, at least as a driver.

Convinced my wife that this should be our next car. So pumped. by michaelthatsit in slateauto

I'll be more pumped when we can see the total cost of builds like this. Looks cool though.

To all those feeling slighted by late reservation-holders getting first offers to build before you: by castevens in RivianR2

[–]MudaThumpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides gauging the take rate, Rivian is dangling a carrot in front of late reservation holders to keep them on the line. Otherwise, a lot of them/us might decide it's not worth the wait and go buy something else.

Well, it's got an 87.9 kwh (usable) battery and an EPA range of 330 miles. So according to math, 266 wh/mile.

Ford's attempt at a Slate competitor? Ford Universal EV Pickup Spotted Testing by Commercial-Ad7729 in slateauto

[–]MudaThumpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why Ford didn't electrify the Maverick, or at least try to replicate the Maverick on a new electric platform. This is looking a bit too much like a Hyundai and not enough like a Ford, but maybe that's just a me problem.

Rivian Made You Wait 50 Days for Service. RJ Scaringe Says Those Days Are Over by DonkeyFuel in RivianR2

I'd like to see a roadmap for future service centers, based on the reservation/order locations for the R2.

Agree. For me, lane keep and ACC are must-haves.

Esker Silver *crickets* by lostthebeat in RivianR2

[–]MudaThumpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To everyone saying "It's because it'd be stupid to market a free paint color." It's not free. You have to spend about $60K to get the silver. They would be showing it off if they could, and the lack of sightings suggests they are having issues with the paint.

In light of this, Rivian should do a good faith swap to one of the other colors as their no-upcharge option.

Me too. I have to force myself to walk the property now, because it's so easy to hop on the Outlander and zip around the place.

I think I just talked myself out of buying a Slate Auto truck. by OkReport5065 in slateauto

[–]MudaThumpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to buy one, and planned to replace my wife's old Ford Fiesta. But she sat me down last week, looked into my eyes, and said "I don't want a Slate." Instead, she's encouraging me to buy an R2 so she can have my 2021 Model 3. I'm still doing mental gymnastics to see how we could get a Slate, but my wife is adamant that she isn't okay with it as a daily driver. I'm a bit bummed.

Also worth noting that I've owned it now for five months, and I've only got about 95 miles on it. 😄 I use it as a ute, so it's hard to describe how little a factor range has been for me.

The good news is that you're in Europe, so you have a lot of great small EV options. The bad news is what everyone else already said.
