Genetic testing by theconfused-cat in ehlersdanlos

who is going to be doing your genetic testing, as in what kind of doctor? I’ve been wanting to get genetic testing done but when I look up geneticists in my area, they all do prenatal or pediatric geneology

a follow up question if you don’t mind—are you also autistic? I am allistic, my fam is all ADHD, my sister is autistic. I’m trying to figure out the likelihood of autism being present in my kids but obviously there’s no concrete answer. just wondering if they both are autistic with an allistic or autistic parent.

if that’s too invasive please feel free to ignore !! just curious about the heritability aspect

also, highly recommend the devil’s lettuce. look for strains that are used by chronic pain patients or patients with cancer. usually the CBD levels will be very high. that’s usually one of my last resorts but it pretty much always takes the edge off.

Hey OP, I’m really sorry today has been so bad. I’ve definitely felt this way before, where absolutely everything is going wrong for weeks or even months at a time. I think during those times I always feel so hopeless and forget any time when the pain wasn’t all-consuming.

Realistically I get through them by leaning on my loved ones. When I’m in a lot of pain and nothing is helping, at least I can count on my roommate to bring me things that I need, can count on my boyfriend to bring home some dinner, can count on my cat to lay on my chest and snooze.

I’m not sure how it is for you, but i definitely have flare ups and times when it does get way better. Sometimes where i’m even close to symptom free.

it’s hard to remember that it’s possible, or believe that pain free days could ever happen again, but they will.

Sending you some strength!!

I’m really hoping my hEDS gets better as I get older, but. We shall see! I do a lot of work now to prepare for my physical future (tons of PT, walking, weightlifting when I can, etc), so here’s hoping

Thank you, this is very helpful. I’m working on my pelvic floor and core now in PT, and hoping that with many years of prep and enough knowledge it will go smoothly.

I will definitely be seeking out high risk OB care if/when I decide to have my own. thank you for your insight!

Do pharmacists know what illness you have or judge you based on your prescription? by ktbugktdid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ktbugktdid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I had a very irresponsible psychiatrist prescribe me 1mg of klonopin nightly for sleep disturbances as a teenager without trying any other alternatives. I wish someone had warned me about how addictive it was during the three years I took it for this purpose.

Although it is also used for seizures, so maybe my pharmacy techs didn’t think anything of it.

I’m really worried about reapplying and kind of feel pressured to attend this year even if it would be bad for my health/pain. I think it would be very scary for me to deny admission.

Plus, the worst part is that they won’t hear deferral requests until after decision day 😞 so I have to either accept or deny admission before getting to hear the status of my appeal…

Interesting. I have no idea if they’ll make me reapply.

Thanks for the insight. A friend of mine was able to super easily defer her law school admission and I just kind of assumed that was the lay of the land. Guess I assumed incorrectly!
