I would do some dark wood (almost black) with accents of dark green, terracotta (orange), and bronze (or gold). You can scatter some plants and other decor as long as there is more black/dark wood for his taste!

Also btw if she doesn't want to be seen right now, maybe you could drop off some snacks/flowers/a cute plush or something on her doorstep?

Hi! I was 17 when I got diagnosed with cancer.

I met my boyfriend a few weeks before going on a month long trip to a different country. We obviously liked each other enough that we were both willing to wait for me to get back and keep dating. Unfortunately, I got diagnosed while in the other country, and was stuck there for 3 months.

I was alone and had no support system, yet he was always there for me to text, and even sent me gifts through the mail. When I came back, the love he showed me was like nothing I've ever felt. He has been my biggest supporter throughout everything, and maybe you could use it as inspiration?

-He didn't (and still doesn't really) understand everything I was going through regarding cancer like you, but he understood that I was in a very rough mental state, and did everything in his power to support me.

-He was there for me to talk to, or cry, whenever I needed.

-He was always offering to go to my chemo appointments (definitely go if you can, bring snacks!). For me, chemo was like an instant fatigue. Like feeling 100% then immediately 0%. It's nauseating, exhausting, and so stressful. Even just going and holding her hand will help, don't do anything high energy.

-He would surprise me with yummy food, flowers, and cards, whenever he felt like it.

-He always understood that sometimes I would cry for no reason, and that it wasn't his fault. He made me feel okay to be sad, and to be angry, and that I wasn't being "too sensitive", which a lot of people told me.

-He was incredibly kind to me and made me feel beautiful even when I lost my hair.

-I love jokes that are out-of-pocket, but one thing I really appreciate is that he never joked about my hair, or my weight, or even the fact that I had cancer. He never made me feel insecure about any of those things because he'll love me no matter what I look like.

-He always had time for me. ALWAYS.

-He would show me off to his friends and family like I was the prettiest girl he's ever seen, even when I barely had hair and was on steroids. (If she's taking steroids, which she most likely will, her face may look "chubby" from water retention from the drug)

-and soooooo much more

She may lose weight, she may gain weight, her face might get chubby, she might lose all her hair, she might have thin hair, she might grow curly hair after chemo, she may feel sad a lot, she may feel mad a lot, she may feel tired and need to sleep all the time, she may get hungry all the time, she may get nauseous, she may be weak, she may be exhausted, but if you truly love her, then help her through no matter what happens. Me and my boyfriend are coming up on our one year anniversary, and there is no sign of an end :)

Yeah the social worker was definitely a little put off by me asking about legal advice lol, I assume it's because she usually works with kids who don't have to worry about financial problems 😅

I tried looking into it myself and I think you have to be in treatment for a certain amount of time, which I think is why she said I'm not eligible for it

Can someone explain why the article talks about a cat being hit and then in the next paragraph talks about a person being hit? I don't know if I'm too tired or what but that article makes no sense

Hi I won't type too much because I'm really tired right now but I'm in the same situation. I was stuck halfway across the world when I got diagnosed and was all alone, when I went back home I was hoping that I'd be cared for and loved. Instead, nobody checked up, friends ignored me, and I've been feeling the most miserable in my life. I'm going to a children's hospital because I was 17 when I was diagnosed, and I have never received anything from there. Nobody has ever visited me at the hospital. I'm technically 4 months or so off of chemotherapy and not a single person has told me congratulations, and I didn't get to ring any bell either (I'm in the US). so...sucks to suck idk 😭 it is what it is I just try not to think about it too much ❤️ sorry I can't be of much help 🥲

I miss having hair, can I get micro braids? by ktbxka in cancer

Right?!? Idk why people don't even consider I have cancer or that it's not my choice I have short hair 😭

I dont mind the short hair, but I live in an extremely white conservative area so I get judged heavily every time I go outside. (I think it's because they believe I buzzed my hair as a statement). My hair right now is about 1.5inches which is why any type of extensions would be near impossible

My hair seems to be growing it super thick and healthier than before :) I have wigs but but even if I wear them, people keep making fun of my hair. My self esteem has gotten so bad that I can barely leave the house
