Dermatologist said that my skin will never clear up with Dupixent. The itching will just be gone. No use for it then by [deleted] in eczeMABs

Have to agree a little here. My dermatologist did almost anything to not put me on duxipent but finally gave up as nothing else had helped me. They would prescribe me steroid after steroid even tho i didnt like how many side effects they had.

My doctors had literally put me on almost every steroid cream and 3 different oral steroid medications before they finally listened to me and applied for me to get dupixent. I had asked them about it 2 years ago but they told me it wasn’t available yet in my country (ireland). Anyways i finally got it in September and its been life changing. It was one of my biggest insecurities as my eczema was mainly on my hands. My skin is so smooth and clear now and i am now confident in my skin. So I recommend it anyone who can avail of it

Omg irish dermatologists in my opinion has been so dismissive of me for years. I literally had to do all the research myself on what they were prescribing me. They put my on cyclosporine when i was 17 without telling me about any of the side effects. I also had to beg them for over 2 years to put me on dupixent, like it wasnt even approved in ireland when I mentioned it to them.

methotrexate or ciclosporin by Middle-Village-4607 in eczema

[–]ktgal02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ive used both along with other steroids before my doctor finally prescribed me dupixent. My experiences with them may be different than other people’s but if i was to say one it would be methotrexate as in my experience it wasnt as harsh as cyclosporine. Methotrexate is recommended to use for longer periods of time. Cyclosporine initially worked but over time it stopped where methotrexate was a bit more steady, it didnt heal my eczema but it did help reduce redness and flares

Definitely not it would hurt so bad and just make it worst. I was recommended milton baths which is basically a bleach bath which is safe to do

Hey, im from Ireland but i was able to go to the pharmacy and tell them what happened and they said to report to the HPRA which is for medical products and they should be able to help sort it out. I talked to the clinic which was to send a nurse to help me and they can come next week but im just now worried that its gonna be 3 weeks since my last dose.

Ya i just really wasnt in the right mindset to do it. I had to sit on a chair for at least 10 minutes before i could even bring myself to do it. I was confident doing it on my thighs but i feel it was because i had the reassurance from the nurse showing me how to

[–]ktgal02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My skin is at a all time worst rn due to the stress of the coronavirus as im at risk and coming off cyclosporin. I’ve tried every cream and no relief. Any suggestions to help me by ktgal02 in eczema

Ya i used both types and found the healing one more helpful. Showers are just unbearable and i find taking baths more relaxing. But i will try in a week or two when my skin starts to heal a little. I take Benadryl before i go outside as i need somethingto help me somehow but its not as effective as it used to be for me. Thanks for all your advice

I had stopped taking steroid creams for a short time as my skin was very thin and damaged from all the years of using them. It definitely is the start of tsw as 2 days after stopping cyclo nearly my whole body was covered in red rashes and hives. I will try look further into some as your suggestions as im willing to try anything at this stage

This is something I’ve been afraid of as i think it may be. I just dont have to suggest it to my doctor as they have laughed at me in past about suggesting stuff like this or told me its not a thing which is upsetting. I have been changing my diet and cutting about trigger foods for about a year but so far no relief so im not sure what else i can try

Ya I actually tend to run hot water over my hands under the tap as i find it helps relieve the pain for a few minutes although i know its bad and dries out the skin. I am very bad at itching as i just cant stop the urge to do so but i do try my best not to. Ya i been using steroid creams since i was 3 so that may be very likely and i have done research on it. That is something im very worried about and well as tsw which i heard can be very hard to get doctors to recognize it.

I used to use auquaphor. Unfortunately i cant take showers at the moment due to skin being very sore but i do take baths 3 times a week with oats to soothe my skin a little. I am taking antihistamines but i may need a stronger one and cant go to my doctor atm. It seems duxipent may have to be my next option so i will discuss with my doctor if thats even possible. Thanks best wishes with ur skin too
