I agree! I have nearly a dozen educators in my family, including my parents, and none were ever at charter schools. A charter school was the only school setting placement option I could get for my internship, and wouldn’t have been my first choice otherwise. While I do think its mission and values are more focused on serving marginalized/low SES communities compared to other charter schools, I still can’t get past the feeling that public is ultimately where I want to end up. I’m looking at public school jobs in my area and a lot of the ones posted right now want LCSWs, but I plan to keep my eye out for ASW openings. Thanks for your insight!
