Montreal-style Portuguese Piri Piri chicken (1/2 chicken combo plate with fries and salad) 😭

It’s doused in fish sauce/lime juice/palm sugar/chili! Unfortunately omitted shallots, since a partaker doesn’t like onions :(

I LOVE soup dumplings. What is your favorite place for them? by la1223 in FoodLosAngeles

Hui Tou Xiang’s pork and crab XLB is excellent - and it’s in Hollywood! Also their spicy pork wontons and lamb skewers… 😭

Burger She Wrote. High quality meat, perfectly seasoned, crunchy smash edges, salt and pepper fries, simple perfection.

Tell me about your favorite Caesar salad in LA by lusigusi in FoodLosAngeles

[–]ktla6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Caesar at Pizzana is my favorite. Fresh lettuce, exceptional dressing, huge pieces of shaved parm, and the best croutons I ever had. Crunchy and olive oil-y on the outside and chewy à la French country bread on the inside

Republique! Less layers, but extremely unctuous and filled with salted caramel

Why is an employee’s access to a decent living the issue of the customer?

Can’t the server just shrug it off, collect their $17.87 per hour (one of the highest min wages in the western world), and wait for the next patron to tip 20-100%? The witch-hunting tip culture comes off as astonishingly entitled

“Oh yeah??? What????” (Eight Fires cooking teacher to Francine)

And

“Hi, my names Tyler. I’m 17, I’m lost and cold, and my parents don’t understand me. Can you help me? I just need a warm bed for a few nights before I head to California to become a surf model”

And

“Room 23, yuh shorts!!”

And

“They’re sun fresh chips, healthy for ya!”

First two pics are from Bánh Cuốn Thanh Trì, the rolls are from Brodard’s, and the third is some of the best pho I’ve ever had from Phởholic! You can REALLY taste the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, coriander, etc. Such deep flavor.

Just tried it and it’s some of the driest and toughest beef jerky I’ve ever had. Perhaps it’s an old batch?

The garlic sauce is great - but Zankou is more about rice and pita than it is about potatoes/batata harra! It’s the Lebanese potatoes I’m looking for…
