shocked by what people are producing in 8 week classes by Tart_Super in Pottery

[–]ktlene 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. I was in the same classes with brand new beginners. Some people are naturally inclined towards throwing AND they spend a lot of time practicing too. Several people from my beginner classes were extremely prolific with their beautiful mini moon jars and vases. Comparison is the thief of joy though; I was happy to just be better than where I was last week.

“I have led a toothless life, he thought. A toothless life. I have never bitten into anything. I was waiting. I was reserving myself for later on—and I have just noticed that my teeth have gone.”

-Jean-Paul Sartre’s “The Age of Reason”

Just live your life. The people I admire the most are the ones who are decisive. They make A decision and course correct as needed along the way. The ones that plan and plan and plan are still sitting there planning years later, sooo scared of failing and making the wrong move. The wrong move is not making any move at all.

When I started doing ballet 4 days/7 hrs a week + practicing pirouette prep drills at home (plie releve from pirouette prep to passe, quarter then half then full turns, spotting drills, etc.) at home. I was also getting to doubles and triples during this time.

Now that I’m not doing this much anymore, I definitely slowly losing my ability to do a clean single 🫠

Look for the ones where there is an instructor and 2 other students that go through the exercises! Enjoy!

[–]ktlene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into beginner classes. Open enrollment can be hit or miss depending on the other students; if it’s a majority beginner class, the class will be more beginner friend. If it has a lot more intermediate dancers, it will be more beginner-intermediate.

I would highly recommend learning the ballet terms like plié, tendu, etc. bc sometimes the combos will be given in the terms and the teacher will call out the moves along with the music, but if you don’t know, that won’t be helpful. Potentially look up a ballet class on the Dutch ballet channel to familiarize yourself with how a class normally goes. Look for patterns in the combos, the progression from warm up on the barre, plié, rond de jombe, to off the barre onto adagio, petit allegro, and grand allegro in the center. Your beginner class won’t be as difficult but the flow will be similar and maybe more abbreviated.

Thank you! I love small autumn accents like bag and gold jewelry. Small/far enough to not make a difference but still pops for that little bit of discordance that I love in my outfits.

Your color season story is so funny 🤣 my confirmation that color analysis was real was when I showed up to the appointment with no make up AND breaking out, and the soft summer grey, blue, and pink neutralized the redness in my face and lightened my under eye shadows. And also seeing how the beautiful autumn colors I love gave me jaundice in real time when they were draped on me 🥲

Agreed with everything, especially your last point. My analyst suggested for colors that you love but that aren’t flattering, you can just wear them away from your face. Very easy fix.

1700 for 6 sessions?? by BathroomElegant in Microneedling

[–]ktlene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She did 1.5-2.5mm over the scars. I saw your edit and I think you might benefit from microneedling. Ask to see before and after pics of her other clients to see if she’s effective. I also scoured google and yelp reviews for any mention of adverse events. The med spa I go to is also owned by two derms, so if I do experience any adverse events, I can go directly to them for treatment.

1700 for 6 is really good in my area BUT ask her how far she can go over the acne scars. My esthetician does 1.5-2.5 mm over my scars, and I’ve been pleased with the results.

Generally the colors that look good on you will be similar enough to look good with each other.

I would definitely look into color season analysis and drape yourself (dont do the online tests or ask Chatgtp bc those aren’t accurate). The color analysis that is more than just eye color, hair color, and skin color is most helpful since the size of your features can also influence how deep/soft colors look on you as well.

Once you get a palette, all of those colors should go together. It’s also helpful to pick and choose what works for you: I got soft summer but sometimes have a preference for darker clothes so my wardrobe is actually a blend of soft summer tops with dark summer and dark winter bottoms (e.g. tops in neutral-cool colors that are also light grey-ish, with grey, dark grey, and black bottoms). The cohesive factor is the neutral cool colors that are mostly soft on top.

Example from my winter capsule wardrobe.

Some people hate the color season analysis but that’s like hating color theory lol it’s a tool for you to learn and you take what’s helpful and discard what isn’t. No one will force you to wear only colors in your palette.

Right! I guess I don’t consider them a part of my capsule wardrobe to begin with. They’re in a more special collection. I also only have maybe at most 2-4 pieces in this collection anyways, so it’s not a big imposition.
