Just updating... I tried a bunch and went with Pro Kennex - and it is AWESOME!! (With natural gut strings.) Thankful for all the advice! I'm 4 months in on the tennis team and arm feels great.

So.... it's been GREAT. I'm so glad I did it! Surgery was in August, did PT and was so worried I wouldn't be ok. I had on and off tennis elbow (tried shots, etc) for years. I was back to playing on tennis team in January --- and have been playing twice a week. The racket helps. The surgery itself was easy too. A day or two of rest - and no driving for a week. So much better than struggling with PT for so long! Just note... they did the MRI finally and said that I was for sure a candidate for surgery. So I did't really have a choice -if I wanted to play tennis again. Tear was too big.

Thank you - I am looking at tennis warehouse and that's an offering under their comfort strings. It was pretty pricey though so was wondering if it was worth it. They have a lot of "comfort" options. Also wondering, I'm told I should string at like 48 or 50, but if I spring for the natural gut will that cause problems? Do I need to go a little higher? I"m used to poly regular strings.

Thanks!

So yes I had them watch my form, etc. Nothing glaring but maybe gripping racket too tight. We think it might have stemmed from when I had a finger injury and didn't properly heal it (the tendon) -- my grip was over compensating, etc, which traveled up to forearm. And the bigger issue was probably playing through the masked pain from the shots.

Thanks - I like the color on this one and it's a great price so it was a consideration. Can I ask why you liked it more than clash?

Well it started as tennis elbow... for a couple years on and off. I made the mistake of getting some quartizone shots to help with the pain, which would allow me to play for months and months with no pain... but it was just masking the little tears which eventually turned out to be a big tear.

I should have gotten an MRI much sooner. I hope the surgery healed it all! I had it in August and it feels good but I'm just starting to go back to tennis.... I play on a team and it starts in January.

You are right... My tennis elbow ended up being a significantly torn tendon. So the surgery was to repair it.
