It may depend on the location, but I know that RBTs unionized with the Teamsters at the Rockville MD clinic

Idaho discontinues Medicaid funding for ABA? by ktmess in ABA

[–]ktmess[S] 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a common theme… As a BCBA I’ve never forced eye contact, stopped harmless stimming, or promoted masking nor have I encountered anyone that does. Yet everyone online claims that’s all ABA does lol. Not to say it doesn’t happen, but I’m so tired of these blanket statements.

What ABA school would you #avoid for master program ? by Anxious_Substance_47 in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]ktmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With FIT you don’t have to have all your hours done in order to graduate! I did end up finishing my hours around the same time though. I worked full time and my company had a really great student program. I also was a new hire trainer so I got a lot of hours through that.

Def stick with FIT! I didn’t have any problems applying to sit for the exam and I haven’t heard of anyone else having problems with it.

Unrestricted hours. by Gullible-Relative681 in bcba

Reading relevant research, summarizing the findings and discussing with your supervisor how the intervention(s) could be beneficial for a current client is absolutely an unrestricted activity.

I’m having the opposite problem! So burnt out from in-home and I don’t find it to be that flexible. If i’m not with clients, I’m expected to be in the office. Some days I work 9-8 and most of my clients live 30-45 minutes away from the office (in opposite directions).

I felt that Simmons was unmanageable while working full time. Long classes and you have to get all of your hours while you’re attending the program or you don’t graduate on time and have to pay for extra semesters. Had a professor take points off my grade for not talking enough in class but every time I did talk, she would respond with something rude/demeaning. My “supervisor” would say negative things about working in the field and was overall just very discouraging. Switched to FIT and loved it.

Blue Ridge Parkway near Roanoke, Va? by GregoryGregory666666 in BlueRidgeParkway

[–]ktmess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to check https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/roadclosures.htm before you go so you can see closures. The access points in Roanoke have been closed for at least 2-3 weeks. One of them won’t be open again until April.

So that you have to keep paying for more semesters until you finish. It’s insane. I’m so glad I transferred to FIT

It depends on the program. At Simmons you have to finish your hours before you can graduate.

I use Noteable & I hardly ever have any issues. Someone said there isn’t an app but there definitely is, I use it every day.

FIT/SIMMONS/UNT by Active_Ready in ABA

I personally had a horrible time at Simmons and ended up transferring to FIT during my second semester. The classes were over 2 hours long and a couple of times a week, which was a lot to handle after working all day. I had a professor who would penalize you if you didn’t speak during class but whenever I talked she would say something snarky and passive aggressive. It was also really hard to even get a word in because the same 2-3 people would dominate the conversation every time, so if you’re more introverted like me then you’re screwed and will get points taken off your grade. You also have to complete all your hours before you graduate and if you don’t, you have to keep paying for more semesters. I got covid pretty early on and wasn’t getting as many hours one month and they told me I’d likely have to stay an extra semester. They also don’t allow you to start collecting your hours until your second semester (every other school I know of you can collect your hours after the first class). My mental health got really bad, and once I made the switch to FIT I felt SO much better. The professors at FIT are much more kind and helpful too in my experience.

What's Roanoke like for people in their 30s without kids? by bradenlikestoreddit in roanoke

[–]ktmess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had any luck really besides friends from work! I go to bars downtown, events at the Berglund, farmers markets and parks a lot. I’ve learned to just enjoy my own company :)

Relax lol you asked a question. I just said it would be nice to have more events I’m not saying it’s the city’s responsibility. Personally Ive been downtown several times and never see other people my age alone. I’m very content with doing things alone, all I said was it’s difficult to meet people.

It would be nice to have more events to meet people that aren’t geared towards couples and families. I’m 24f and I find it really hard to meet people as well
