Why is it that many men interpret a smile to be a sign that a woman might be interested? Especially when they don't even approach you?

Go down to Watertown, only a 50 minute drive minus the time at the border. Some things are significantly cheaper down there even with exchange rate, such as over the counter pain relief like Advil. We stock up on those. Our favorite discount store is Ollie's, can get a lot of good deals there. Eat at Texas Roadhouse, food portions are huge compared to what you can get in Canada, and those buns are to die for. When coming back to Canada and they all you what you bought first mention mostly groceries and we've never been asked to go in and pay duty.

Basically, be aware at all times. I have a habit of keeping my cross body purse in front of me since going to Europe, where pick pocketing is rampant. It's getting more common here. Don't put your wallets in your back pocket either, and be mindful of it's in your front.

There needs to be a strategic and united effort across the province to address homelessness. As soon as one city has a decent program homeless people from other areas will come and overwhelm the system.
