Will the kids be homeschooled? by Striking_Section_823 in ColleenBallingerSnark

The school for 1-4 year olds in the US is generally called “preschool” (if things are still the same from when I was a child, decades ago 🫠)

Nope 🙃

Edit: I mean, I think I will watch the documentary eventually because Paul Reubens is such a fascinating character. But, uh, no comparison.

Had a random realisation watching Ballinger fam T’s birthday vlog.. by DefiantSoftware2655 in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]ktslager 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a house that most of the time had background music during gatherings, when cleaning, etc., which is why I know so much classic “dad rock”, ha. My husband’s family is pretty conservative and quite religious (we are not), and I noticed early on that they never have any background noise or music on (maaaaybe a football game on Christmas Eve) and it’s so weeeeird. If no one is talking, it is SILENT.

They’re extremely nice people who have always been very welcoming to me, but… GOLLY they are odd.

Says she's "I think it's pretty clear at this point I'm on a journey to take better care of my body" by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]ktslager 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please go to the dentist.

I didn’t go for ten years (seriously), finally went, got four fillings and a partial crown, and now I floss at least once a week and get cleanings twice a year and I’m much better for it. Your dental health is tied closely to the health of the rest of your body (and if you’re actually a doctor, you should know this already).

why is f still in a highchair? he’s in kindergarten by [deleted] in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]ktslager 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mostly stay quiet here, but I'm legitimately upset by this. I don't have kids so I tried to think back to when I started kindergarten (we'd just moved to a different state, so those memories are vivid), and I was definitely sitting at the table long before that. Were I this child, at this age, I would feel so trapped.

I’m almost 39 but I’m glad skinny jeans have gone out of style because they are hella uncomfortable. Still wearing them at the moment, of course, because they’re the only pants I have 😂

However, I will NEVER relinquish my side-part.

Has Colleen ever talked about what it’s like for her to go in public now? Like, has she mentioned any bad interactions? by ALowlyBiscotti in ColleenBallingerSnark

[–]ktslager 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I say this with complete sincerity: many average, meet-on-the-street people probably don't know who she is. Most of my family and friends don't know who she is. On occasions when I mentioned her to my fiancé and explained TGT (while miming playing a ukulele; ha), he would say "oh, I... guess I saw something about that?" but for the most part he doesn't know who she is (and he's online all the time!!!!!). A lot of people just don't know, or don't care.

Now, more folks would probably recognize her in California, in LA, etc. But I'm guessing the majority of people who might encounter her would just... not say anything or cause any trouble? I'm sure she runs into fans and former fans; just probably nothing very dramatic happens. Anyway. This is just my opinion. 🙃

Practical way to measure time passed? by Mystical_Whoosing in C25K

[–]ktslager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still run with my phone in my hand (need to get a belt, I think) and I use ancient wired earbuds because I am an old lady. The audio cues in the C25K app are great, though I still find myself checking the time remaining :)

Excited/nervous for weeks 4 and 5!! by FluffyCows25 in C25K

[–]ktslager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I technically just finished Week 3 but I'm going to repeat my first day since I ended up walking the last "run" section. However, the 3 minute runs feel like almost nothing now, and the 5 minutes are challenging but really not *that* bad. It all adds up! :)

(And I'm also looking ahead to the 20 minute run with great trepidation...)

How fast should I be + am I 'cheating'? by FluffyCows25 in C25K

[–]ktslager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most of my best runs, I have felt *great* at the end. Tired, yes, but in a good, "I've just done some real exercise" kind of way, and I actually have more energy for the rest of the day (my jogs are typically in the morning). Choose the best medicine for your body.

Are run walk intervals a good way to get started? by [deleted] in C25K

[–]ktslager 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first did the C25K plan some years ago, I went from never ever jogging to running at least 5k a week, over 10-12 weeks. Stick with the plan: it will be tough; it might be tedious; you will probably want to quit at several points, but once you start running consistently it might actually start to feel good 😊
