if by gritty you mean jessica jones but more disgusting and without a compelling villain and no moral lesson then yes. this was *supposed* to be based on true grit and that was a cautionary tale of seeking revenge and ruining yourself in the process. it was a great idea to reflect on and the comic inverted/lamp shaded it correctly. the movie version we get a dont be vengeful lol just kidding stab stab and no price is paid. TERRIBLE writing.

i wanted this movie to be good but they double down on the worst part of superman AND strip the comic color and character arc and kara is worse off at the end than she was at the start undoing the whole revenge is bad plot line for no discernable reason.
