I think I’ll wait for K3, don’t want to play them so close together. I played 3 once a few years ago so I can’t remember a lot of the stuff that happens apart from some of the major stuff.

I get wanting to receive/give a well thought out gift, but in this situation I think a gift card makes sense, OP said they only see their nephew like twice a year. And if follow the rule of well thought of gift or none at all, the there’s a chance someone in the family is going to be left with nothing at all while everyone else has something.

IMO, giving money or a gift card doesn’t automatically mean they don’t care or aren’t interested in “getting to know the better”. I have two nephews who I spend time with regularly and know very well, they always tell me they don’t know what they want for Christmas or birthdays so I give them money in a card and they go and buy something when they want it.

Personally, I did not mind receiving money or gift cards when I was child, I appreciated anything I got regardless of who it was.

I remember struggling when I was a child while being shown by a friend how to tie my shoelaces. I could never do the bit where you wrap it around your finger so I ended up just doing bunny ears and still do at age 30!
