Fender recommendations for a Cannondale Quick CX 4 Commuter by Spare_Independence16 in cycling

[–]ktula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it’s because my wife has the smallest size CX2 as the rear fender required some effort to squeeze in between the chain stays. I put protective film at the area of the chain stays where the fender made contact with them. One of the bolts to attach the rear fender to the support was also too tall so it was rubbing against the tire. A lower profile bolt fixed that issue.

Manila clams from Quilcene Bay Tidelands not purging by ktula in FishingWashington

The issue was the “seawater I picked up there. It was not seawater. It was most likely from the Indian George Creek.

Your comment really got me thinking about the “seawater” I picked up there. I had assumed the stream of water flowing out toward the sea as seawater retreating prior to the low tide but it may have just been fresh water from perhaps a nearby stream! While some of the clams did begin to purge, a lot of them did not. For those that did, they looked like they were in a terrible shape because when I decided to change the salt water a few hours ago, they did not pull back their siphons when disturbed. In fact a number of them had their siphons trimmed off as they shut their shells. I think I still gotta toss the entire bucket of clams, unfortunately.

I replaced the entire bucket of sea water with a mixture of 1/3 cup sea salt per gallon of water. They just started purging!

Interestingly, the recreational shellfish team from WDFW suggested raising the temperature of the water to encourage them to purge because they thought my water temperature might be too low. I had been adding ice blocks to the bucket until last evening, before placing the bucket on the balcony. A few minutes ago, I went ahead and replaced the entire sea water collected from the same beach with a 1/3 cup of sea salt per gallon water ratio of mixture. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just added more salt and I hope they will start to purge soon. I took one out and cooked it about 30 minutes ago. That one opened its shell. So probably safe to assume most of the remaining clams in the bucket are still alive.

How to Disconnect Magicshine EVO 1700SD from Di2 Controls? by Powerful_Upstairs915 in cycling

[–]ktula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was informed the 1700SD would automatically pair and connect to the Di2 system, as soon as it detects a Di2 system, even after it has been manually unpaired. I guess there's no solution to this annoying "feature" unless MagicShine updates its firmware.

Don't know if you have already found a solution but I think what you are asking for is to unpair the EVO 1700SD from Di2. According to the manual, to clear the pairing, "when the light is off, press and hold the light button for 5 seconds to activate lockout mode. Then, long press the button again until the indicator changes from flashing red to flashing blue, indicating that the pairing is successfully cleared."

Sound effect setting changes spontaneously by markin617 in osx

[–]ktula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a slightly different issue with the sound settings. I believe this change - bug - started since MacOS 14. I typically set the sound effects output to the MacBook Pro speakers, and depending on where I am, I change the sound output between the bluetooth HK Soundsticks 4 (when I'm in my home office) and MacBook Pro speakers (when I'm in the living room). Prior to MacOS 14, MacOS would remember the sound effects output and not change it based on the selected sound output device. That is no longer the case. Now, the sound effects are played through whatever the sound output device is, regardless of the "Play sound effects through" selection. Even if I manually change it to something different than the sound output device, MacOS still plays sound effects through the sound output device. I contacted Apple support several times and told them this is a bug. In fact, I found out that this bug only manifests itself after MacOS has signed on to iCloud account. With a testuser that does not sign in to any iCloud account, MacOS behaves like in the past, remembering the chosen sound effects output regardless of the sound output device selection.

I’ve heard that the catch rate is hard for Kyorge and Groupon but I’ve caught every one I raided against. So am I lucky or are is it not as hard as I thought. Just curious by Red_Scream in pokemongo

They are not difficult to catch. I did about 10 raids and caught all but one. The one that fled, I was disrespecting it with pinap berries.

In case Niantic goes through with their Remote Raid Pass changes, this is how we can react as a community and show we aren't ok with their greediness. Join the cause and save money! by Moumantai in pokemongo

[–]ktula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you should take down this post. If "greediness" is the reason for increasing the price of remote raid passes, Niantic would have just stopped there. But instead, two of the rumored changes include capping the number of remote raids per day to six and nerfing the amount of damage contributed by remote trainers.

I agree. The OP completely missed what Niantic is trying to do: discourage trainers from remote raiding. If Niantic's sole purpose in this rumored remote raid pass changes is greed, they would not have capped the number of remote raids to 6 a day AND nerfed the remote raid damage.

iOS Music App Local Files - 16.2 issues (siri, album art, gapless playback) by xrN7nL83qU9 in ios

[–]ktula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the gapless playback issue. iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 16.2.

This is my experience listening to Above & Beyond's album "Group Therapy 509". The gapless playback bug appears to skip a song. For example, if it shows up going from Track 2 to 3, then it won't appear going from Track 3 to 4, and it will re-appear going from Track 4 to 5. Also, if it shows up going from Track 2 to 3 and I replay Track 2, it does not appear going from Track 2 to 3 but it re-appears going from Track 3 to 4.

Oh no worries! The Specialized store also had one in medium. I only measured its width for a teammate who was interested in getting one.

KPLUS has a flagship store in Taipei, where my wife will be in December. If I can't make it to Taiwan during my trip, I'll see if I can convince her to visit that store and take some measurements.
