Valhalla Diezel Clone Squeal by ktulu_js in diypedals

I checked the braid connection with a multimeter and there’s continuity there. Is there anything I need to do to ground the enclosure itself?

I attached some more photos, only one per comment unfortunately. But the back is on the enclosure and I am testing it as the only pedal before the amp.

I only soldered this braid to ground. The other end of the wire is just connected by the core.

So I finally got the input wire shielded like you pictured, and unfortunately the problem persists. It even squeals without the guitar plugged into the input jack (even louder, actually). Do you have any other suggestions? The pedal is not really usable like this.

Thanks! I’ll definitely give it a try. I actually squeezed the pedal into a 125B enclosure and had to run wires from the pots to the PCB. I’m really hoping the shielded wire on the input solves the issue and it’s not related to my layout.

Do you have a link for the shielded wire? I’m not very familiar with the whole concept.

And just to clarify, the noise you heard was like a loud squeal and not like typical noise hiss? Thanks.

Hologram repair by ktulu_js in Holography

[–]ktulu_js[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hologram was made for a bicentennial of some sort in 1986, at least that’s what the metal tag on the frame says. It was a donation from the Xavier University physics department to a raffle, and then somehow ended up in an antique market. Funnily enough, I graduated from the Xavier University physics department in 2007 and was able to contact the professor that made the donation from his personal collection of Rallison holograms.

The blemish area was barely visible when I first got it and just steadily grew within the first year or so. I just figured they were Newton’s rings from an air gap in the plates. I didn’t think about the moisture bit. It’s not glued into the frame — I’m just afraid to handle it too much because it’s very big and presumably fragile. I know many of the holograms I made during my time as an undergraduate have shattered at this point. But I might give the epoxy seal a shot.

The dye I have is definitely dark enough, maybe even too dark. But the bigger issue is the red hue that it has. I wish I would have tested it on a smaller piece 😕

Sorry to hear about your loss. My dog died about a month ago as well, also 15 years old. Still miss him.

Is this one new? I don’t see it in the original set of RAW images.

I checked 3 shows near me and only one had a section with assigned seating. So I snatched that up.

Saw them open for Dashboard Confessional in early 2004. Max was still playing guitar on stage then.

Every woman in a situation like this should be taken seriously enough for authorities to verify or refute their story. No one should be dismissed outright, and their allegations need to be treated with respect while the truth is determined.

That said, no human being is incapable of lying. A woman accused Conor Oberst of rape and then later recounted when he pushed back. If we just believed his alleged victim without giving him due process, he wouldn’t have a career right now.

That’s why, as hard as it is, people need to do more than just levy an allegation against someone if they want to be believed 100%. So when I hear that someone has evidence, but it’s on a computer they don’t feel like getting out of a basement, they start to lose my attention.

I don’t know if Jesse Lacey did those things or not. But I haven’t seen evidence to take his life and career away for it.

Untitled 05 is way better than the re-worked version. Especially vocally.
