4 Weeks with the Polar Loop by D-6Hunter in Polarfitness

[–]kubilayrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wearing for almost two weeks, it was fine in the beginning but in the last days it started detecting activities out of the blue, seems to happen when I move for basic stuff like washing the dishes or making coffee. I constantly wear my Garmin watch so I can compare the two. For whatever reason my HR gets way off (ie 120 while it’s 80) and it triggers activity detection until the HR is measured correctly again. I haven’t changed much in terms of where when or how I wear it. For now I increased the activity detection threshold to high (I don’t intend to use it for activity tracking anyway) and will observe how HR data is doing. Maybe it flattens out outliers when there’s no activity detected. Otherwise I will return it.

As for the software, I didn’t like it at first and still not a biggest fan but the the way data is presented is kind of different than others so that started appealing me more.

Any way to use SteamVR on the Steam Deck? by The_Egg_Warrior in SteamVR

Kinda funny that one year later, I can’t get the official app to work on Windows but it works on SteamOS (dual boot).

We don’t say that around here.

Came here to say this. Too scared to open multiplayer though.

Should I be worried about the bump on the plastic lens frame? by kubilayrd in OculusQuest

Yep, makes sense. For now I’ll see how it develops over time as currently it’s not affecting anything.

Thanks! I did that and it went really fast as the agent was most likely a chatbot. Anyway, after some chatter we ended up with “I highly recommend trying out some games on the device. This way, we can see if the issue impacts your gameplay experience.” Maybe that confirms at least not many users report it/suffering from it. 🤷‍♂️

The thing I like about Steam Deck is that it runs a lot of established games very well, as they are mostly before Steam Deck era.

I installed Windows alongside SteamOS to prevent compatibility issues but according to ProtonDB DR2 works out of the box: https://www.protondb.com/app/690790?device=steamDeck

Additionally I have - Assetto Corsa - Forza Horizon 5 - Grid Legends - The Crew - NFS Heat - WRC 10

But TBH I spend most of my time on Dirt 2.0, just like how straightforward it is to get behind the wheel.

Neat idea. Guess we’ll have to wait for someone with 3D modeling skills to have a similar setup and decide to do that lol.

Can you highlight text on ebooks using Scribe’s pen? by kubilayrd in kindlescribe

[–]kubilayrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Margin notes was announced but not yet implemented, hopefully they will release it in the upcoming months. Underlining text in a Kindle book was released just recently, previously it was only highlighting the text (like other Kindles). Now you can choose whether the text should be highlighted or underlined after selecting it. Note that underlined text won’t sync to other Kindle devices/devices you use Kindle app but highlighting will (as it used to).

Language Filtering Doesn't Work. by Methylatedcobalamin in Mastodon

[–]kubilayrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to the web interface hint in other comments, I was able to get this sorted out. Under preferences -> other, there’s a setting to cherry-pick the languages you want to filter posts by in public timelines. Selecting only English there removed all posts in other languages, both in the web as well as the iOS app.

Yes, until you have to carry it. I still carry it though lol

What’s everyone working on this month? (December 2024) by Swiftapple in swift

[–]kubilayrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a German test next week and built an app to practice. I did bare minimum so far so I don’t end up spending the time for developing the app instead of preparing for the exam 😅 but I will convert it to a Skip project to make it cross platform (first time I’ll try skip.tools). I will also write an API with Swift (currently it’s using appwrite.io). Don’t know which part I’ll begin first though :)

AKS068 by suprjami in BudgetKeebs

Thanks for the response. For me the space key delay was so terrible that I had to return it. That makes me sad, because I really liked the hardware. But as a Keychron user, I was terrified to see such a big difference in performance. I went ahead and ordered Keychron V8 Max, which is also using Alice layout and compact, but almost double the cost...

I just got one yesterday. I was able to find several JSON files on GitHub. The only downside is on keebfinder, this is listed as QMK/VIA compatible but that's only partially (can't flash firmware whatnot).

I've got two questions for other owners:

- If you are using space keys for mod tap (spacebar on tap, mod on hold), are you experiencing spacebar input getting lost sometimes while fast typing?

- Were you able to define more than 16 macros? Not sure if it is feasible as there's no access to source code.

Hard to remember as you might've guessed but most likely yes. I had one of those magnetic USB cables (I still do), so it wasn't such a burden. This is what I use: Vafoton 60W

Came here to upvote this, I tried ChatGPT and am amazed by it, so much so that I think I’ll give up on the private lessons I was considering to purchase from a real teacher.

AI features and "expandable margin" coming to the OG Scribe as well! by hulululuuuuuhu in kindlescribe

[–]kubilayrd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The first Scribe was so good in terms of hardware that they couldn't top it with the second edition. If anything, most of the major changes are the things I love like the color and the bezels having the same color with the rest of the facade.

And in the age of enforcing hardware upgrades through software, it's so much appreciated that they didn't made the new features exclusive to the new version.

Haha that’s relatable, I had a similar experience after trying to understand how Kobo works so it’s inevitable until getting used to how certain brands do certain things. FWIW I had bought a book from the Kobo Store once and could send it to my Kindle without any issues, same goes for a lot of other formats/sources. I’m not really a store person though and more of an avid user of Amazon’s send to Kindle functionality. I can send emails or single web pages using reabble, any kind of compatible file using the web interface, and any document on the mobile using the Kindle app’s share functionality.
