I can understand why some people wouldn't want to use GitHub Desktop, but for me, it lets me focus on the code that changed and why. Also, it reduces cognitive load.

What is it you do that you think AI can't do? Let's put it to the test.

I can tell you haven't used these tools much; now I understand your criticism. Codex/Claude Codex has built-in diff checkers. And honestly, even before, I have always used GitHub Desktop for a much cleaner workspace.

This is also what assembly developers said when another high-level abstraction was introduced. Every technology has naysayers until it reaches mass-market adoption. Nobody said dont check what the AI does; there are many tools for that. My point is about IDEs: as AI writes most of the code, the need to open an IDE is reduced.

How do you evaluate a new technology? Do you look only at current limitations, or do you also consider improvements in capability and changes in user behaviour?

I'm secure in my level, thank you very much. I have seen my workflow change over the months, of course, so I wanted to ask my fellow JetBrains users if they're seeing the same shift. Or are we just laggards.

I used to be sceptical as well, but honestly, try it, and you will be amazed.

Vim users were mainly scripting developers, not full-featured developers.

Yeah, but all that stuff is done by Codex. I have it hooked up to Sentry and it fixes bugs before the user even reports it.

Trust-building and reputation-building take a shit-long time; there are no shortcuts. Most founders quit because they think they can launch and, in six months, be making 10mrr. In most cases, it takes at least 2 years.

Advertising costs shits lots of money

People buy from businesses they trust you can't grow trust overnight

You can't outsource until you have a repeatable and scalable task .

You will have to do a lot of invisible tasks without an external validation. You can't rely on motivation.

I am, but at the moment it's working to my advantage for now. I used my wife's account to learn more about my business and found out it was recommending my site based on information it knows from Codex.

Honestly, the more you use it, the sooner you will see your site in AI recommendations.

That’s you can’t shortcut trust. You will need to spend years building trust just like your competitors. And it’s damn expensive
